I've just moved to Kilmainham and I am now registered to vote in the Dublin South Central constituency.
What are the candidates like? Any existing constituents want to give their opinion?

Had Michael Mulcahy FF supporters canvassing today in my area to say that they were very sheapish is an understatement - the guy must have had his head taken off him a couple of times as he looked very nervous when i answered the door -

Ha, ha - I'd say they'll find the canvassing tough going alright. Catherine Byrne and Aonghas O Snodaigh should top the polls with the bounce Fine Gael and Sinn Fein are getting.
I see Mary Upton is passing the baton to her son(?) - in the old Irish electioneering tradition of keeping it in the family - apart from being related to Mary Upton, is Henry Upton any good?

Don't know anything about Henry but Mary Upton was one of the better ones.
You have the benefit of having Joan Collins on the ticket she's the one who interrupted the Bertie interview last week.
Haven't heard from Michael Mulcahy at all in the last four years but saw him rolled out on tv there last week not very impressive he'll be very lucky to get back in.
Aengus Ó Snodaigh will probably get his seat back. There is an independent called Gerry Kelly involved with Direct Democracy looks interesting.

Here's a list of them all.

Joan has a chance here. If you look at the last election she and Brid Smyth (now both PbP) polled over 4,000 1st preferences between them. Brid has been instructing all her supporters to give Joan 1st preferences. So, on a good day she could do 5,000 I reckon. I think she has a decent chance anyway. Probably best shot at a seat outside of Joe/RBB/Daly axis.

I have to say that I think as a constiuency we've a very poor selection. Moved here from north county Dublin about 12 months ago.

If Henry Upton called to my door I'd think he was looking for money for his confirmation!

Not a clue who to vote for here. I'd have a bit of respect for Joan in fairness but do independants get anything done in the dail really??

Joan isn't an independent, she's in People Before Profit who are part of the United Left Alliance.

True true. My bad. Still I don't have a clue who I'm going for at this point. Will have to do a good bit of reading up on them.

Its her Nephew! - i think hes a Councillor, but your typical keeping it in the family stuff, crazy

Yeah the standard of choice is very poor indeed - not one of them has any chance of a cabinet seat -

We could do with a celebrity independent !
