    Hi All,
Anyone know what the current ZV range is at? Any ideas on what it will be when it surpasses 99999?

    Thanks

Every county has a different batch, it will be many years before they are all used.

Sorry, should have said Dublin. Well, its a CW reg, but I'm in Dublin, so I assume it will be issued from the Dublin list?

If your adress in is dublin you should get a Dublin issue, post back on what actually happens though, id like to hear what goes down. Dublin should still have some nice 4 digit ZVs left to issue, so you'll get a number that looks historically correct on your car insetad of something that doesnt look good no matter what way you space it out.

I think Dublin is in the 9500s now, they have allocated all the way up to ZV17200 giving around 7500 to go. I dont know how many ZVs are issued every year in Dublin, but it will be a good long time before all that runs out.
CW ZVs are issued between ZV22201 to ZV24700, 2499 allocations.

The big question is will they stop issuing ZVs to post 1986 cars imported here in 2017. Probably not, becaue no one seems to have a clue whats going on in government!

Think they'll last 'till November 2013? :pac:

If its at 9726 now that leaves 273 left, as Fiesta said, at 20 issues a month that gives approx 13 months.....so thats a no no sadly. Realistically it looks like the 4 digit ZV will die within the year.:(

Hopefully the last issue will be to a hearse! Lol!:D

What about other counties. Have even the smallest places gobbled all their's (1st allocation) up?

I think everywhere bar Dublin have used theirs up, some county allocations were only 2/300 numbers originally.

As far as I'm aware Co. Clare uses 5 digits, ZV 12345. Even though I'm entitled to a ZV reg this May, but possibly will be keeping my current 81 CE 462 setup. I think ZV 12345 looks too long and the combination of ZV12 345 looks too crowded on the plate. Even though was looking forward to a ZV plate since purchasing in '04, but I think the €48 p.a. tax rather than the current €1, 204 will keep me smiling however...;) Even though I am out of the high tax scenario this year I really think the tax situation should be looked at, possibly a sliding scale from year 20/25. €1, 204 to tax my car one year & €48 the following year is absurd! Then again...why am I surprised with this country & the law makers :mad:

I agree. There should be a sliding scale from 20 yrs to 30 yrs. But the powers-that-be are prob afraid that a load of ppl will start running 20 yr old cars for everyday use - not that I would forsee such a scenario. The average Irish motorist is too fond of electric windows, airbags, etc etc to drive an older car every day.

What kind of car do you have btw? Pic?

Yep...the sliding scale could work nicely on the '90 :D

why did you block out the CE on the number plate, but leave the county name in Irish above?

    Nice cars btw!

Lovely cars!! Cheers for the pics.
The '90 635 would be my fav...though I'd imagine the road tax is a bit of a killer?!

3 years till I can get a ZV but I dont think ill bother, ZV = import just as much as 84 C does..... Though I am concidering making fake plates for my car that I can velcro on or hook on for displaying at car shors and If I did that I would put my cat back to english plates for the fakes....

Yes, at least the old ZVs could be made look some way original looking, impossible with the new issues.

    Coincidentally I was posting a similar answer on this thread;
    http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=70462796#post70462796
and so I rang the motortax and customs offices in Dundalk inside the last 45 minutes to get a definitive answer to this to be told that if your vehicle is already registered whether it be on 81-CW-123 etc or an old ROI plate or whatever you CANNOT get it re-registered on a ZV plate so don't be worrying about what a ZV plate will look like on your car if its already registered in the Republic!!
Ring the Customs & Excise in Co Louth on 042-9353700 if you still have any doubts!
