Hope this is in the right spot,

I had a provisional licence a few years back for when i was on a moped, but its out of date now, I think its out by 4 years or so. Jst wondering can I just get it renewed or do I have to do the theory test again? Hoping to get insured on the mothers car so need to get it sorted soon.

    Thanks for the help.

If it's expired less than 5 years you can apply for a second permit.

If I am reading this right, the learner permit you had is for the moped and you want to get one for a car. In which case you are starting from scratch on a different category.

I got the license back in 2004, its marked for both a car and a bike on the inside chart. Is that still ok now?

I have a few months to renew it then it will be out of date by 5 years.

Ok, I dont really care for the motorbike part anymore. So if I'm reading this right, my new permit will cover the car?

Sorry to bring this up again, but do you need your theory test results with you when renewing your license? or is the old license enough?

If you get it done within the five years, you just need the old licence. You won't need theory test results.
