    ARTIST INFO:

Futurebound aka Brendan Collins began his musical career at a young age working at his Uncle's gramophone shop in South-Central Liverpool. This with the turn of the century came the advent of the automobile. Young Brendan was immediately taken by the complex machinery and set him on a musical path which he would follow for the rest of his life.

From the very outset of dance culture, and right up to the present day, Brendan Collins, AKA DJ / Producer Futurebound, has steadily developed an almost unsurpassable reputation for tearing up dancefloors on a worldwide scale.

Whether he’s destroying venues such as Fabric (London), Womb (Tokyo), or in the studio, you know what you’re getting with the sounds of Futurebound.

Born and bred in Liverpool, the cultural and musical epicenter of the North of England, Futurebound’s route to the top of his profession reads like a concise history of dance music. After the first illegal raves he attended in 1989, Futurebound went onto pursue his passion for dance music, with DJs such as Fabio, Grooverider, Mickey Finn & Top Buzz serving as early influences.

From this, Futurebound secured a home town residency in 1991, warming up for the likes of Carl Cox, Grooverider and Sasha, his first real break into DJing. Steadily the emerging influence of breakbeats grew on Futurebound, leading him to book names such as LTJ Bukem, Goldie, Ray Keith and 4 Hero for his own parties in the early nineties, and later lead him to start the notorious X events in 1999, some of which still rank as some of most important parties in Liverpool’s clubbing history.

His skills didn’t just stop with DJing and promotion either. Since 1993 Futurebound has been stamping his distinctive, rolling, peak time sounds on vinyl, initially with local producers. Inevitably however, more high - profile production and remix collaborations followed with the likes of J Majik. Matrix, Digital & Adam-f. With his productions being released on imprints such as Infrared, Timeless, Moving Shadow, Metro and Frequency, and receiving heavy support over the years from the scenes hierarchy, the time seemed right for Futurebound to expand his repertoire once again, by infusing his reputation on an entire imprint.

Since releasing Futurebound’s ‘Blind Cobblers Thumb’ & ‘Pied Piper’ in 2003 which achieved instant anthem status, Viper Recordings and has since become one of the scene’s most high profile labels and one which boasts some the most exciting and groundbreaking artists on the Globe. .

After releasing a series of killer tracks by the likes of J-Majik & Wickaman, Brookes Brothers, Baron, State of Mind, Moving Fusion and Futurebound himself, 2007 saw Viper release its first album, as Futurebound & Matrix released their Monstrous ‘Universal Truth’ album, which was voted dance album of the year in numerous territories around the world and featured many anthems from the duo, such as ‘American Beauty’, ‘Skyscraper’ and ‘Coast to Coast’ to name but a few.

Following on from ‘Universal Truth’ and Futurebound & Matrix where drafted into remix none other than Justin Timberlake’s ‘Love Stoned’ for Sony/BMG as well as turning in a blinding remix for Nu-Tone’s ‘System’ track.

Moving into 2008 and Futurebound had barely let the new years dust settle before unleashing the blistering Headroom EP, as well as linking up with the Brookes Brothers to produce the massive ‘Dawn Treader’ which was released on Breakbeat Kaos in May.

As well as being hard at it in the studio again and DJ’ing worldwide spreading the Viper sound, him & Matrix dropped their first 12” post Universal truth. ‘Womb’ and the Nu:Tone & Logistics remix of ‘Family’ dropped in March and became a firm favourite throughout the D&B world. And to cap the year off in fine style Futurebound & Matrix offering released the dancefloor killer ‘Shanghai Surprise’ backed by the lush rolling vibe of ‘Reflection’, which featured the vocal talents of Cat Knight.

Futurebound and his Viper kru wasted no time in taking things up a notch in 2009 with the highly acclaimed “Acts Of Mad Men” LP, which was named Zane Lowe's 'Album of the Week' on Radio1. If that wasn't enough, Futurebound and his partner in crime Matrix were on serious remix duties for the likes of Moby, Snap!, Sasha, Lazee, and Ian Carey.

2010 is shaping up to be another massive year for Futurebound and Viper Recordings with a massive lineup scheduled for the rest of the year, along with the 2nd LP from Matrix & Futurebound currently in the works.

Tom Mundell aka Metrik has come a long way as one of the key names to look out for in drum & bass and for someone still relatively new to the scene, he has already shown his versatility with the depth and range within his productions.

In 2007 he released the anthemic soulful refrain of 'Your World' on Intrinsic Recordings which captured the attention of some of the scenes biggest names from Bad Company to Pendulum and Fresh to London Elektricity. It was to become arguably one of the biggest tracks of the year. This lead to Tom being contacted by Futurebound and being signed to Viper where he is now a key player on the label.

In 2008 Metrik released his first single on Viper – the epic ‘Moving On’ / ‘Stranger’ which was to become his second single to reach number one in the download charts. The end of that year saw Metrik unleash the huge ‘Technicolour’ which received major radio support from the likes of Zane Lowe, Hugh Stephens, Annie Mac and Colin Murray as well as all of the heavyweight drum & bass DJs. This culminated in Radio 1's poignant use of the track as a sound bed on their coverage of Barrack Obama's victory speech on Colin Murray's show to breathtaking effect.

2009 got off to a great start after he collaborated with Australian rising stars, ShockOne and Phetsta to produce the enormous ‘True Believer’ on Viper Recordings. This instant classic quickly gathered serious momentum and became a staple choice in many A-listers DJ sets worldwide. Simultaneously, ‘Your World’ propelled to the number one chart position at Beatport for the second time. Metrik’s take on the timeless rave bomb ‘Anthem’ and 'Time to Change' has created devastating reactions in the clubs, picking up support from High Contrast, The Utah Saints and the Brookes Brothers. The year ended with a bang as 'Forward Approach' and 'Sunset' appeared on the acclaimed 'Acts of Mad Men' artist album (BBC Radio One's Record of The Week) further solidifying Metrik's range and diversity as a producer.

Metrik has worked passionately to craft a name for himself behind the decks with his energetic, uplifting and euphoric sets incorporating styles from across the spectrum of drum & bass taking his listeners on an epic journey. He has traveled far abroad, playing shows across the UK and Europe and now with an Australia and New Zealand tour planned for later in the year his sound is set to reach an even wider audience. With a studio positively brimming with cutting edge music and a string of new releases ready to drop, including his highly-anticipated debut 'The Departure EP' - 2010 is already shaping up to be an exciting year for Metrik.

    The Sect - Offkey/Freak/PC/Obscene/Habit/Subsistenz - UK
    www.myspace.com/thesectdnb
    http://www.facebook.com/TheSect
    http://soundcloud.com/the_sect

The Sect are Blade and Virtua. Initially meeting through mutual friends in the late 1990s, they have been producing Drum & Bass together ever since.

Growing up hooked to the bleeps and breaks of The Prodigy and London’s pirate radio stations, they followed the development of Jungle to Drum & Bass, eventually finding themselves drawn to the futuristic output of labels such as Underfire and Renegade Hardware – and in particular, the techno-edged Konflict sound.

In 2003 The Sect was formed when they joined forces with long-time friend and DJ partner Method to produce ‘Geotherm’, signed by DJ Red for his Distance imprint. During time spent on the south coast, they established links with Raiden and Propaganda, sharing the same love of underground Drum & Bass, especially the driving breaks, heavy basslines and futuristic soundscapes that would come to embody the Offkey sound. This culminated in Raiden signing their first track for his label – ‘Nerve Attack’ – which would go on to feature on their debut EP (‘The Sect EP, 2006) and bring The Sect their first serious exposure.

Just getting started, signings followed immediately on Obscene, Position Chrome and Habit. With healthy support for their work from DJs at the harder and darker reaches of the Drum & Bass spectrum, as well as many of the scene’s major players, the boys found their production skills in demand. Further tracks and a steady stream of remix work continued throughout 2007 and 2008, on labels including Freak, Revolution, Trickdisc, TDP and Position Chrome. They also collaborated with Audio to produce ‘Pounded’ for his LP on TechFreak, as well as remixing Glenn Wilson and Mike Humphries’ legendary techno stormer ‘Aural Exciter’ for Subsistenz and Cause 4 Concern’s 2001 classic ‘Relentless’.

The Sect officially reverted to the original combination of Blade and Virtua in early 2009 and the year started brightly, with the release of ‘Mayday’ on Optiv’s Redlight Records and a remix of Freeland’s ‘Bring It’ for Marine Parade. They also remixed Temper D’s ‘Chess Boxer’ for TDP and helped launch the Bristol based KSS Black imprint with ‘Cybermen’/Bias – ‘Chrysalis (The Sect Remix)’. Looking to the future, the boys are working hard on a host of new tracks and remixes for a variety of labels, with releases signed to C4C Ltd, Position Chrome, Surround Sound, Venom Inc., Prspct and Perkussiv. They are also working on plans for their own label.

Despite the heavy production schedule, The Sect are as at home behind the decks as in the studio. Virtua has showcased his formidable skills at the famed DMC championships and Blade has been DJing for over 15 years, playing regularly at events across the world, from the UK to Russia and New Zealand. They have established a reputation for high-energy DJ sets, combining tight mixing with cutting-edge dubs to move crowds wherever they play.

    BIOGRAPHY
The humble beginning of this drum and bass darling's story starts, as many do, with an innocent childlike curiosity. However, that curiosity has since been transformed into an auditory obsession culminating in the development of the triple-threat, globetrotting-powerhouse known under the moniker of DJ Syze. Ioanna Borovska, Bulgarian born and stateside bred, has almost poetically begun to shape up as the modern Cinderella story of the drum and bass scene.

Paying her dues over the last 10 years, Syze has quickly risen up through the ranks of the underground music scene. Her first dip in D&B came in 1999, at what time partnering up with Seattle local dj Dowlz, the two started the highly influential Kaos Theory nights, circa 1999. Kaos Theory quickly shaped-up to be Seattle's very own proving grounds as the only all ages D&B club nights, giving support for many local and international talents.

In 2001, Syze sponsored by Savier Skate Company - a division of Nike - breaks ground with T.Z.A. to establish Polyrhythm Recordings. Following afterwards, DJ Syze collaborates on several tracks with him, such as, State of Mind, and the status flexing Stepping Razor, which was reviewed by Minty Magazine who wrote:

[sic] Seattle's own DJ Syze serves up a crispy mix CD that eases you into the darker element of drum and bass. The title track sets off the mix well and shows her deep understanding of the music she plays. She never loses sight of the emotional side of the music, making this CD, like her sets at clubs and parties, a pleasure to listen to.

With the rising success of this up-and-comer, 2002 sent DJ Syze to blaze trails as the first guerilla mixtress to play drum and bass on local FM radio show The Vortex C89.5FM, and solidified herself as a reoccurring guest for years to come. By the time 2005 rolled around, Syze was afforded with a whole new wealth of opportunities: She began working with Chris Renegade on supporting both Renegade Hardware and Barcode Recordings by setting up stateside tours for their artists; introduced the large scale monthly dnb nights under Bassline Agency and Onset alongside Cease and Grym, which totaled a successful lucky number 13 of D&B events, and established her own booking agency, Bassline Agency, with such heavy-hitters filling out the roster as Evol Intent, Ewun, Spor, Chris Renegade, Noisia, Counterstrike, Mayhem, Infiltrata, Chase and Status and Gein just to name but a few.

Sponsored by Etnies Skate Company for a brief stint in 2006, after being signed to Defcom Records UK, She was featured on Black Out EP Vol. 1 with the successful hit - reaching an almost cult-like following - No Evil by Kryptic Minds and Leon Switch feat. Syze. She also then began to dabble in downtempo/IDM with the likes of Knick and Sorse. Her experiment outside the comfort offered by drum and bass was widely accepted with the track, Let It Be, by Sorse feat. Syze. Around the same time, she had also begun to throw her support into the Seattle-based crew Onset by supplying out of state headliners and continuing to throw joint events.

In 2007, Syze was listed alongside such scene heavyweights as Evol Intent and Ewun within international URB magazine's NEXT 100 issue. The NEXT 100 from URB is the music industries VIP list of who's who on the cusp of household status, and intently watched by industry insiders, trendsetters, and fans alike. In the article, URB really lets their feelings be known when they referred to Syze as, [sic] a real army of one.

While successfully juggling her agency, promoting shows and providing vocals for various projects, Syze continues burning up the wheels of steel playing shows both domestically coast-to-coast and abroad in such exotic locales as Bulgaria, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Romania, Ukraine etc. and in every corner of the USA from Georgia, Florida, Arizona, Utah, Washington California and so on.

Restructuring and taking a well needed hiatus, Syze spent a bit of time refocusing and in 2009 moved to Europe. She has since teamed up for various projects with drum'n'bass bad boys - Zardonic, Thought, Silent Killer, Breaker, Gein, Cooh, Spl, The Sect, Spktrm, C4C, Arsenic - this just a short and currently growing.

In 2009 Syze was also signed to Guerilla Recordings with some huge projects in the works as her current main hub label, also with releases on Subsonik Sound, Intransigent Rec, Onset Audio and Culture Assault Rec. More labels around the corner to be added.

January 2010 Syze debut her " Revised CultMix007 " for Culture Assault Records, while in the spring came off a 14 city Europe tour with Human Imprint artist Zardonic. Her current projects include, her album work for Guerilla Recordings and various other 12" tunes. Please keep your eyes open for the " Guerilla Radio DOA Mix " and her upcoming Fall Europe tour, more info and updates soon!
