Hey I'm 17 years old (18 in March) and I live in Clare

Recently I have become very interested in Wiccan and I was wondering are there any covens near me?

Or could anyone recommend how I could start to become wiccan?

    Thanks in advance ;)

Xelagh welcome to the paganism forum.

    What about Wicca interests you?

Many covens don't have a public listing those that do can usually be found on
    http://www.witchvox.com/vn/hm/iexx.html

Most people get to meet those who are Wiccan by going to local pagan meet ups and events there is a moot which runs in Claire.

Clare Pagan Moot - Cruises Pub, Abbey Street, Ennis, Co. Clare. 3rd Thursday of the month from 7.30 p.m. Webgroup - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ClareMoot/

As for how to start, well I would say work on your personal developement, read a lot and then some more and work on developing your own spiritual awareness and personal routine/rituals.

There is a thread here which has a list of book which are reccemended.

    Good luck in your seeking.

You could try looking up the "Pagan Federation of Ireland"they could also help you out.

Thank you very much for your reply!

As for what interests me about Wicca. Well it started off with the personal aspect. I was raised Catholic but I was never made to feel like I had any connection to God. So I started researching other religions and Wicca stood out to me immediatly as a very personal religion.
For the past few mouths I have been looking up sites about Wicca and finding out everything I could. The more I read the more I wanted to know. I found that many of my values where similar if not the same as in Wicca. I really love the history of the Sabbaths and the rituals sound amazing. I also like have both a male and female deity.

Can I just ask what is a moot? Sorry if this is a silly question

It's basically a meet-up of Pagans (etc) in a public place. For obvious reasons, not everyone wants to broadcast what's being discussed or what the common interest of the group is, so it just looks like any other group of people meeting in a pub and having a few jars.
