Hi, am really struggling with a wardrobe crisis...also doesnt help that i have a fear of straying from jeans and top combo, for day and night wear...
Has anyone experience of using a personal shopper...i figure Debenhams would be a good choice as it has big selection of brands..i always end up going for safe option and buy from Oasis..I still love their stuff though..just want to break out of box ;) Or does any other big store do personal shoppers?

I've never used a personal shopping (although I need one lol) so I can't recommend any. I remember reading somewhere on Boards (although it was ages ago now) about a personal shopper in Dundrum or Liffey Valley who was meant to be very good.

I did a quick Google search so hopefully it can be of some help.

A friend of mine used the Debenhams personal shopper. She found it fantastic, and got some really beautiful outfits that she would never have looked at herself.

I used the Arnotts one last September and thought she was excellent. Over 2 hours of trying on at least 50 items with no pressure to buy them - I did get a few though!

Yeah my mam used the Debenhams personal shopper and got on brilliantly. There was no pressure on her to buy whatsoever and the lady that did it with her was so nice and really listened to what my mam wanted.

A friend of mine went to one in Debenhams. She had a number of outfits to get for different things. She said the lady who did it was lovely. The oufits she selected really suited my friend and they weren't by any means the most expensive in the shop.

The woman also suggested mixing and matching rather than buying all new outfits.

Oh I might be tempted to get one too come payday. I have way too much of my old collegey clothes cluttering it up!
Let me know how you get on OP so I know if it's worth giving it a go :)

+1 for Debenhams, I used their personal shopper when looking for my debs dress and it was fantastic, found my dress in an hour and didn't even have to leave the changing room!

My mam has also used them twice and found really lovely bits! The girls that do it are just lovely, definitely recommend them!

Hey just to give an update..unfortunatly i was not successful at Debenhams...the lady was lovely but just didn't understand my style or age it would seem...some of the outfits were not for someone under the age of 30 or even 40..i guess im better off on my own at this shopping business

How old are you OP? There might a shop better suited to your age and style.

Am 27, clothes from Oasis is about the only place that sums up my style, i never find anything i like in topshop, river island etc..im very fussy unfortunately, like structured style dresses on the knee or a little below, i dont wear skinny jeans as i am size 14-16 and much of weight is on my legs..i tend not to wear dresses as i hate my legs(calves) So when i go into a shop all i see is skinny jeans and clothes to wear with skinny jeans or shorts or leggings..I just thought she might make me see differently but she didnt..she didnt let me go out onto the floor with her and discuss different items...just listened to me and brought back a load of clothes that were not at all suitable

I would try Arnotts. They have loads of gorgeous, classy labels (like LK Bennet), as well as "fashionable" ones. There are so many, and so varied, I would think you're bound to find some nice things.

Im also sick of seeing skinny jeans, I hate my calves too so flares suit me better but then all the tops are like dresses and all dresses are up to the bum!

I need to get out of the jeans/top regime too. Infact I have a christening tomorrow and i am the Godmother and I have nothing smart to wear.
My main smart stuff are too summary.

I am actually a qualified visual merchandiser who does displays and dresses mannaquins but im way too shy to wear the clothes in season.

How much does it cost for a personal shopper and which one is best for my age...27! Which store?

I find River Island, Oasis too expensive.

Personal shopper appointments are usually free, you just have to make an appointment.

Very interesting, Ive always wanted "a makeover", like they do on TV.

Chickus, if you go to the Arnotts one, can you keep us updated please and let us know how it goes and the cost?

Id really appreciate it, like I said, we are on the same boat.

Thanks you and good luck, I hope you find some lovely outfits.

That's annoying the debenhams shopper thing didn't work out for you, I had almost booked one myself because it sounded really good. I need to update my wardrobe, I've just started a professional job and my wardrobes full of stupid college impractical clothes. I find it so hard shopping for casual clothes, I don't know why, can shop easy for nice work or going out or even gym clothes, but can't seem to get my head around how to buy pieces in the middle, stress.
Might try Arnott's as someone said, anyone of my age group (24) have experience using there personal shopper? What did you use it for?

Just thought Id let you know, i just got my outfit and by myself. Im very proud of myself. (I have the christening tomorrow)

My boyfriend and I just popped in to Maynooth and I aimed to find a cheap white or bright top to go with black jeans (thats all i had) and instead, I ended up buying a pair of grey fitted trousers in Heatons and a nice white top in Tesco.

Im very happy with them and they go great with my new pair of shoes I got at Christmas.

My boyfriend got very frustrated and could not understand how its so difficult and time consuming for women to put an outfit together. LOL!
    Men will never learn!

Still though, keep me updated about your shopping trip. Thank you.
