PHP/Apache error?

    Hey everyone;

Formatted my PC last night from Linux to Windows :pac:, (I DO plan to dual boot and reinstall Linux though). I installed Apache 2.2.17 and tried installing various PHP modules (VC6) but none of them work. When starting Apache I get the error "The requested operation has failed!".
Can anyone shed some light on this?
    Thanks!

Have a look through search results.

Did you look at the error_log?

Yeah I did, spent the entire day trying to figure out the problem
This is the error log but I don't see anything weird there (note I'm new when it comes to using Apache so there could be something blatantly obvious I'm missing)

and tried installing various PHP modules (VC6) but none of them work.
Can you uninstall those PHP modules and just get a barebones Apache working?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 894 ✭✭✭Dale Parish

Yeah without PHP installed Apache works fine

What are the names of the php modules that you installed?

I am wondering if you installed a module but missed a dependency or two (the rpm dependency list should prevent this).

How did you install the modules? Yum? Apt-get?

Can't seem to upload images while editing previous post so... double post :pac:
Did a bit of reading and read that I should run debug on httpd.exe and I got this in return..
    attachment.php?attachmentid=144898&stc=1&d=1295889770
I noticed that the installer left out my PHP directory in httpd.conf so I added that and ran the server, it crashes offering me to send a report to MicroSoft..
    Edit:
Ops, sorry I missed your post there. I am using Windows at the moment so I didn't use Apt-get or Yum, just the installers from PHP & Apache

What is line 508 of httpd.conf, where there is a syntax error.
Also, does the DLL that is reported as missing in that die or somewhere else.

You should consider using WAMP or XAMPP as they have everything set up already.

    Interesting, line 508 is this...
    LoadModule php5_module "c:/Program Files/PHP/php5apache2_2.dll"
PHP is at that location, and so is the DLL

That directory is not the one in the error message.

I do not know the solution to the problem. You will save a bunch of time if you just install XAMPP Lite

always the way! for future reference though, you should bookmark xampp as daymobrew mentioned, it's such a time saver! i remember the first time i ever tried to set up a php dev environment, hours of my life wasted because i didnt know of xampp! :(
