Joypad disassembly - Help!

    Hey,

A few months back, I took apart my dualshock 3 to clean some drink that spilled on the face buttons (x, o, square and triangle). When I took it apart the springs from under the L2 & R2 buttons jumped out and I don't know where they came from.

I put it back together but the trigger buttons (especially L2) didn't feel right. The trigger button would snap back up after being pressed down and it felt very loose. When a game sets of the vibration, the button makes an awful rattling noise. So much so that I hold down the L2 button (when it doesn't have a command attached) so it stays quiet!

I opened it again and took out the springs and no difference. The button still comes back up after you press it down but it doesn't snap up. So obviously I had the springs in the wrong place. However checking on youtube, it appears I am putting them back in the right place.

Driving me mad. Anyone else encounter this???

    Thanks for any help!!

The spring can't jump off or come off at all unless you remove the metal bar or the R2/L2 button a good bit.

The springs are meant to make it snap back, if the controller is rattling it means you haven't tighten the screws enough on the case or the boards inside.

The blue rubber is pushing it back out but the springs are what is meant to make the buttons move back with some force. if the springs are not in the right way they don't put any force out between the button and the rest of the controller.

The part of the spring that is doubled over itself goes on the outside facing away form the controller, make sure to keep the rubber part behind R2/L2 in as it's hard to get back after removing.

You f*cking genius!!!! Would give more thumbs up if I could!!!! Your pic showing the spring has it working perfectly now!!! You should really put a vid up on youtube cuz none of them make it clear where the spring should be placed.

It jumped out at me in the first place because when I first opened the joypad, the shoulder buttons just came apart including metal bar and spring, I have been very careful ever since.

Joypad is like brand new now! Rattling of the L2 has stopped and can now even feel more of a vibration from the body of the controller.

    Again, thanks man, seriously!!

I have a question.. Does anyone know where I could get the face plate and some buttons for controlles? I have broke a few and wouldn't mind fixing them..

Sorry sheehy for using this thread but no point making new thread...
