    Hi Lads,

Been looking for a new car recently and came across a 2002 Saab 95 with 85000miles on the clock. Car apparently comes with a full service history and is NCT'ed until May 2012. Its priced around €3000 which seams a little low, going to go have a look at it during the week.

Anyone had one of these before or know a little about them? Good/Bad points?

Mainly what you have to be weary of is oil sludge problems, detailed here: http://www.saabcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58536

    hi,

nice cars ( i had one ) the main thing to check is the following as saabs suffered really badly from the dreaded oil-sludge issue ( wrong service interval/oil type specified by Saab ) and has led to many a Saab engine going BANG. Google it and you will get lots of hits but dont let this put you off.

    1. check the service history in DETAIL and also has/is fully synthetic oil been used and at what interval was the services done

    2. check if the sump has been dropped and cleaned at some stage in its history, if not budget for 400e to get it done ( PM me if you want the garages name I got mine done at )

    3. start the car ( FROM COLD ) and listen to the rear of the engine on the drivers side for a metallic rattle or whistle if there is one don't be fobbed off by "its only the tensioner "as the noise is caused by the oil pump struggling to pull the oil from the sump. walk away

    4. check all the usual electrics work and the drivers heated seat ( if fitted ).

great great car if you get a good one.

    best of luck

    hi

i was getting high 20's on mixed driving and 33-> 35mpg on long runs. Just make sure you get to start the car when its cold so maybe best to see it in the morning if the seller is ok with that.

    best of luck
