I know this is a bit of a "how long is a piece of string" question but here goes!

I've a family members engagement ring which I would like remodelled.

Not looking for anything too fancy. Simply not mad on the style (v high setting) and want something I would wear.

It is white gold and would want it replated or the top of it set in white gold.

    Anyone ever do this??

    What price did you pay?

Any recommendations of place in Dublin to try?

she's not in dublin but there's a girl called helena malone in portlaoise that would be worth looking up...

my cousin had her parents wedding rings melded together and some stones from her mothers jewellery put into it and it's beautiful... she also made my own engagement ring, using stones from my mothers jewellery (we bought the metal) but then she melted down my mums stuff and made a pendant with some of the remaining stones out of it...

she will work with you to get the best result suited to you, in the process of making my ring she came to dublin to meet with us, brought us for coffee etc...

she has reasonable prices too, i think she only charges approx 80-100euro to melt something down and no more than 20-30 per setting..

some of her stuff is in design house in nassau street but when you go to her directly you avoid the dublin prices...design house can put you in touch with anyone that sells their stuff there, if you like the look of it!

i know i sound very biased but i'm so happy with what she did for me and my family and i have no experience with anyone else!!

best of luck with your remodelling!

I had my mams engagement ring, and like you I didn't like the setting as it was too high, and the band was gold, which I don't wear. I wanted to take the diamond out and set it into a new ring, so we went to Voltaire diamonds.
It turned out great and the ring has so much sentimental value now.
Didn't want the band to go to waste, so we are having it melted down and used in my fiances wedding band, and again, the sentimental value means alot.
    Hope this helps.
    Best of luck!
