I've seen the pilot to this and it was pretty OK, got potential. but, in regards to your post Batman: The Animated Series received (rightly) great critical acclaim in the 90's. It took its tone from the Burton's first Batman movie and kept the serious tone as, ironically, the movies got more and more "cartoony": At the same time as Schuemacher's Batman was driving up walls TAS was asking questions like how sane is it for a grown man to dress up in tights and fight bad guys and how responsible is he for the creation and behavious of the villians he fights.

You should check it out. The 3 seasons are now available in 3 box sets. The hand animation may be look little clunky and dated compared to today's 2D digital TV animation of Warners but the writing, stories and voice acting are top notch (Mark Hamill does the ultimate Joker :) )
