Is Skangerising over?

Looking at the beauties in the skanger thread, I am wondering is the era of Skanger mobiles over..?

In the times we have its probably not in the best interests of skangers to spend 1 grand on 12" sub woofers, 2grand on other assortment accessories in halfords and another 2grand on a tubro kit for a car they spend 4grand insuring....
on top of the 2grand veil side body kit

Most of the skanger class mobiles are 90s or early 2000s models also..

so now, moving into 2011/2012 are these a dying breed...should we write the last rites ?

I think its finally hitting home that skangers realise they wont get back the 10grand they pissed down the drain on a car when they want to move to a car bigger than a 1.4 litre.

so maybe in 5 years time a corsa with 4 tail pipes in the back will be a jaw dropping sight

2grand on a tubro kit for a car

Only people i know that ever spent money like that turboing(sp) their car were proper enthusiasts.show me a 'skanger' that has spent money like that on a proper modification like forced induction.

imo theirs been a massive decline of modified cars in general. Due to petrol pprices and alot of people out of work.

we'll see less and less of horribe looking cars and more subtle looking mods done. Its more performance modding now people are into.

Flashy is out for more subtle mods. Body kits have gone down thank god

i dont think skanngerising has gone, its just evolved.

like you said, no more 19" wheels on civics and massive over the top and back again body kits, useless sound systems etc.

its moved onto lots of different areas, the most common i suppose is felt spec (http://www.octane.ie/news/article.php?id=587) then theres lots of other ones.

it started out with JDM import cars becoming the fashon, then people turned 'JDM' into a look, now people are also doing 'USDM' and 'UKDM' styled cars, admittley its also a bit of a folly, but slightly more conservative than the previous idea of modding.

then theres there's the rat look. i still dont get that, the object of the exercise seems to be to make your car look utterly rubbish.

+1 newer ever seen those with forced induction. It also depends what you call scankosomething.

I know a few poeple who are into sound system. They are just having fun, by making all bodywork shiver like jelly. I seen it in action and its prety cool.

You got your show cars, which are pure flash, expencive exterior and interior moding ( this is dieng out now ).

Then ofc sleepers, thus is the new fashion, which i really love myself. Something that looks like a slow wagon, but can destroy anything.

Ofc i would not mix all those with your comman crome amd fartcannon puntos. As those were allways here.

New thing is felt spec, tdi chiped power.

The days of buying a car and "doing it up" seem to be over, now it's buy a kitted TDI A4 like everyone else from NI/UK. And maybe change the alloys....

It's pretty much all either JDM styled, sleeper, or just plain balls-out track weapon looks these days!

Euro-style, flush bodies and clean interior is nearly dead, as is rat-look!

I usually prefer JDM style anyway...making a car look like it came like that from the factory :D

I never could understand the rat look, I mean I could never drive around in something that looks like it was abandoned for 20 years in a wet yard. Most Civic and Teg owners these days opt for an OEM look with maybe a nice lip kit. That being said you'll still find a few abortions of yokes around the place. I dont think there was ever really any nice kits made for Civics anyway so it's no harm for them to die out.
Have to say though that not all kits are bad. The likes of an S-body Nissan looks class with a good kit on it.

There are plenty of dodgy A4s around, and recently I spotted a local lad had added lovely green lights underneath his 307.
