Coming home the other night the fog was really thick, and could hardly see in front of me.

anyhow came towards Carlow and could see a light in the hard shoulder, nearly looked like dims coming towards me in the fog.

it was a safety van with the light on in the back of it.

    2 things

can the cameras see much in the fog or is it just when your on top of them?
and the light on in the van , in that fog was dangerous IMO, plus no outside lights on the van just the stickers, can you complain about things like that? and if so where?

before anyone says it I was doing 60kph in a 80kph so I wasnt done thats not my issue.

Do you mean the internal lighting was on?

Anyone caught speeding in fog deserves their licence removed, not points and a fine.

White light(s) to rear are only legal if reversing (or if in reverse gear - should be illegal if the vehicle is parked, imo).

yes the internal lights were on. they were a distraction as I said as in the fog it looked like a car coming towards me. I found this dangerous and would like to raise it with someone.

same thing happened me last night on the old N3 outside Dunshaughlin. Saw a van parking the hard shoulder and with the fog it was difficult to tell if it was stopped or moving slowly.
I copped it was the safety camera van then. I don't think it was dangerous but it was certainly more distracting than it would be in normal conditions.

I nearly slid into one in the ice & fog, they do park in stupid places at times. Someone will crash into one yet.

    safety cameras
    safety van

They are not safety vans, or cameras. Thats what they'd like you to think they are. They are to make you help pay for the Anglo bail out

Really there should be a big Anglo Irish bank logo on each one of those vans

We're rightly sunk if that is the case. I don't think speeding fines generated by Irish motorists would even make a dent in the 30-40 billion in paid fines in the time need to clean up Anglo.

Heads up mods, this thread may need to be moved to the conspiracy theories forum......

He said "help" to pay for the bail out, not to completely do the job. Just like the old Tesco slogan, "Every little helps", :D.
