    Hi,

I'm learning guitar and i'm fairly crap. I practice every night but to be honest I just play the same old stuff over and over. I don't really know any songs, just play whatever comes into my mind but I'm thinking I should start learning some songs.

Could people recommend some for me to learn? I'm not looking for time of your life or wonderwall (y'know, the ones everyone learns) but just some good songs that are handy enough to play. Ones that teach me some important music principles would be great too.

    Thanks!

No songs will teach you this, only a good teacher (preferably), or a book/DVD/web site on basic music theory. Be patient with yourself. It is quite natural to be "crap" when you are just starting out.

I'll leave it to others to recommend some songs.

    Good luck with it. :)

    coldplay.

Everyone is crap when they start off (except Mozart)

its practice that gets you out of the crap zone. To learn plucking- try some

    the easy C&Western numbers-

Have a go at Willie Nelson's Blue eyes crying in the rain

    or Nial Diamonds Solitary man
