How long are you going to be there for? I bet most places would mail the scope to your hotel.

Anyhow, there's a Cabela's superstore about 2-2.5 hours away in PA.

You may want to check out Walmart. You can have them ship an item to a store and then physically pick it up. They have Leupold and Burris.

If you have a scope in mind, please advise.

If you can mail stuff, check out the Remington Country store. I picked up a hoodie, jacket, and some hats - dirt cheap. The sizes run large.

Also, bring your license. Buy as much Hornaday ammo as you're allowed.

Possession of ammunition (or component parts, such as a spent casing) in the US without the requisite paperwork is illegal, not to mention the necessary paperwork needed to export & import etc.

Speaking only from several firsthand experiences.

Continental let me on with it. Before hand I asked and they okay'd. They weighed it, 10lbs or less.

I also asked TSA and they okay'd me. They checked the case out too.

Then at Shannon, I was stopped and inspected, due to the large gun case I was carrying. I gave them my card and all was well. They inspected the ammo and cleared me.

As for the US, please advise what paperwork one needs to buy brass or assembled ammo. There are no such Federal Laws regulating the purchase of brass. If there is, please provide the ATF link. There are some some states that do have their own requirements, but nothing federal.

Even in a state such as NJ you can go into a store and purchase a bucket of brass.

In the US you can go into a dollar store and buy a key ring with a real bullet and casing - no powder or primer. Not sure what you are on about.

With all of this said, anyone that relies solely upon the word of an anonymous poster online when traveling with anything gun related is crazy. I always do my homework as at the end of the day if something goes wrong, it's myself that winds up in custody. Cannot imagine quoting boards.ie to an agent!

Yep, one can purchase all kinds in the US. However, as a nonimmigrant alien, unless authorised by the AFT, purchase/possession of ammunition etc. is illegal.

Exporting ammunition from the US also requires a State Detartment authorisation. Importation of ammunition into this state requires Department of Justice authorisation.

Is that clear enough for you?
