    Hi everyone,

Sorry if this has been asked before but I can't find much information about this. My sister just got an iphone 4 on Three, but the net its really really slow. Using speedtest i get about 1k or 2k tops. Whereas, I've an iphone 3gs on meteor and get over 1mb. (both phones have iOS 4.2). I've noticed that she seems to be always connected to gprs and not 3G and - the "enable 3G" toggle in the network settings is missing.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Does she have 3G or a 'o' symbol beside the '3'? If she has a 'o' then she is outside 3G coverage and only has GPRS speeds. In network settings do a network search. When the network list is found click on 'Automatic' not 3 (3G). The automatic ensures the phone will move correctly between 2G and 3G.

She has the 'o' symbol, but she's always had it. She's been moving around Dublin city and it never changes to '3G'. I'll try what you've suggested though - that could be it. It's not set to automatic at the moment - thanks.

Muhahaha, nice one - we're in business. Finally connected to 3G and am getting decent speed. Thanks for the help Walkman!

You'll be seeing a lot more of that "network search" menu :p

Works for me, don't have to network search or do the airplane toggle

Eh...no, I'm afraid. This was sorted out ages ago.

Completely? I was with three for a few months but left just before Christmas because it was getting on my nerves how I had no 3G most of the time without doing the toggle. That coupled with a delay in SMS being sent and received.

If they have sorted it all out that's brilliant tho I would definitely consider switching back if there's no issues like that as it is so cheap and their 3G speeds were the fastest I'd experienced.
