cant look me in the eye

    ive been friends with this guy for a year now. his name is paul but we'll call him derek as i'm afraid he might see this. he posts here a lot.
    anyway i know he fancies me as he's made it pretty clear but i noticed he never looks me in the eye.
    i asked derek why he never looks me in the eye and he said it hurts to look into my eyes. why is that? he said he has to look away!
    i just dont get it thanks

    OP, you might have blown the identity there by giving his name away anyway!!! :confused:

    But he's obviously not looking you in the eye either because he likes you and feels nervous around you, or else you are misreading the lines altogether and he doesnt fancy you and he's aware you like him.

    Sounds like he has feelings for you but feels you are just friends and so can never have you.

    Maybe he feels embarrassed and is reminded when he looks at you that he put his feelings out there and was rejected - it hurts to have feelings for someone and not have them reciprocate. Give him some time.
