Kirwan Theatre, NUI Galway on Monday, 31st

    http://www.irishcentral.com/story/roots/across-the-pond/frontrunner-of-irish-presidency-senator-david-norris-launches-his-campaign-114360579.html

Does anyone know if this event is open to the public or is it limited to current NUIG students or something like that?

It's public as far as I know. It was supposed to happen before Christmas but was cancelled due to weather.

Thank you. For someone who has already declared as a presidential candidate Norris' web presence is dreadful. The last news update on his main site is almost 12 months old and his presidential campaign site has no mention of this event that I could find.

Im a student in the college, theres no problem with members of the public coming to these events from what ive seen, never seen anyone turned away from lawsoc talks. In general it makes for a much better Q&A session at the end of the talks actually

The idea of that muppet being president is horrid.

Cancelled again apparently 'due to illness'.

I believe the words used were "medical appointment" not illness. Big difference.

but i cant remember where I saw that. I cant find the email if there was one.

oh it was on the facebook event page about an hour before the page was deleted with no trace...

I have just changed my opinion of him.

Michael D is getting my vote for sure.

The words used were "impromptu medical appointment".

    Interesting.

I didn't see the Facebook page. "Cancelled due to illness" were the exact words I used when I telephoned NUIG SU today to ask.

Very peed of with who ever decided not to put up a sign last night to notify people that the talk was cancelled.
There were about 30 people waiting last night and everyone was really cheesed off that no one bothered putting up a notice on the theatre doors.

After waiting with no announcement from anyone people decided to leave and someone met a girl they knew outside who was involved with the talk. She kinda simpered that ‘’they presumed everyone would find out in some way and they hadn’t bothered to go to put up a notice as it was kinda a wet miserable night’’…………………….What the hell?!?!?!

To be honest I don’t care how much online, twitter, facebook or web based notifications there were; the people going to the venue should be able to find out when they get there. You can’t presume everyone had the time or ability to access online material on the day of an event.

The one clue was the filth of the hall; I did think that the fact they hadn’t cleaned the food, flyers, coffee cups, a4 covered with cartoon soft porn was maybe a clue that it wasn’t on – or is that the normal state of the lecture halls?
Everyone there understood that things get cancelled – it is a part of life – but they should have put up a notification.!!!!!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhh

    Grrrr, sorry rant over.:)

I'm with Carmex on this one. I only briefly caught a glimpse of it being cancelled on facebook. Seriously bad show PDS. Norris would fill any hall in a university setting.

For law soc a year or two ago he packed out the Ciarnes, and rightfully so. Legend. Really hope he gets president.
