Santa Ponsa traditionally is Irish, has a beautiful beach and lots of quality bars. Magaluf is traditionally English and has more in the line of Ibiza type nightclubs. Both are within a 10 min drive of each other.

You must bear in mind the new phenomenon in Majorca of Russians. With ireland and Britain in deep recession and with people with feck all money a lot of the good hotels and apartment complexes have marketed towards Russian holiday makers. My experience of them is they are good humoured and good for a laugh around the beach but the traditional view of Ballymun in the sun of all Irish resorts is gone for the time being.
