    Lads,

Any idea where best to source a new hubcap for my 1.6 Alfa? Lost one a few weeks ago and the car looks rank with it missing.

Mick's Garage don't seem to have them, am thinking breakers or a dealer?

It would be tough enough to source one from a scrap yard. I would think you will have to buy a new one from the main dealer. Make sure you cable tie them on.

    Thanks Plug :)

It's off for the NCT in the next couple of weeks (if I get to the Motors meet it might be in a C5 :D) so depending on that I'll be getting it serviced, already know the thermostat needs looking at, but if I can get it through the NCT for an acceptable cost, then am planning a professional valet, and a new hubcap. Some of the other hubcaps are a bit knackered looking after ten years, so might go for a full new set complete with cable ties. I've a terrible phobia of cable ties since my first driving test, will have to get over that tho!

I have used this site before for bits - find the car closest to your own then ring to see if they have the bit....

The N2 Dismantlers always have lots of Alfas but bring your wellies...:D

Thank you!, am going to wait for the NCT, service etc to be finished, am just researching now to know where to look! I've nice steel toed cat boots that I spend my weekends in so no need for wellies :)

Sumerhill Spares also break Alfa's on a regular basis. If the car passes it's NCT, buy her a present, a set of teledials :D

You might want to get the thermostat replaced before the NCT as this can have an effect on the emissions. Does it take ages to heat up?

Plug, honest to god I'm treating the first NCT as an addendum to what I know is wrong with the car.

In normal weather the thermo rarely goes above 70, so it's buggered, then overheats to feck in slow traffic. (it goes past the marker after 90 and above, then something kicks in and regulates it, not a great description I know) I know there is a problem as well with the airbag light being on, and I'm slightly concerned with a bit of a creaking noise (not a knocking) when you turn the wheel to the extreme left or right. Then my dog headbutted me one day when I opened the car door and wrecked the housing for the drivers seatbelt, it works fine but the housing needs to be put in place.

Spending the €50 to actually get them to tell me there are problems with emissions/steering/whatever, is imo, better than me telling my mechanic that I *think* there is something funny about x,y,z. He knows all of the above but I decided to put it through the NCT as a just in case, it's a retest if it fails and he has all the prior knowledge and it's nothing major :)

RobertM are teledials the sports wheels?

This may not be of interest OP, but i bought a full set of "genuine imitation" hubcaps from this crowd 2 weeks ago and they're actually great quality. Less than 50 quid for a full set, and they look just the same as the originals.

Thank you so much! that's exactly what I was looking for and a great price, I'm really thrilled you posted that link up. Originals don't bother me , and those look great (especially compared to mine at the moment!). I didn't want really generic hubcaps, so these are a good compromise.

I was thinking it would look silly to replace one and have the others which are pretty shabby along it, your link has solved that problem, many thanks :)

Have bookmarked that page so hopefully I'll be buying in a month or so!

Tbh i was surprised how good they were when i got them. I was expecting them to be pure ****e! But they're actually good(Well as good as you can expect a set of hubcaps to be!).

Well the three I have are pure ****e given their age! Those you've linked to look lovely, at the moment when I get my car washed and cleaned, the great naked black wheel just screams neglect. If this car gets through the NCT, it's gonna look good as well as feeling good. It's a great car, love it to bits, the bf's kids friends always comment when they get a lift, it's a joy (although could do with more power) on Motorways, and it's given me an appreciation and love of cars, and taught me that I want to know more about how cars work.

Think of it as the car equivalent of a diet, it passes the NCT and gets new hubcaps :D

Do you know how rare it is to find an alfa at a funeral?

Or are you just advocating stealing hubcaps at a funeral?

Acquire them? You mean steal them? FFS. Clown.

Hope the NCT goes okay and you get a set of Hubcaps sorted OP... A set of teledials would be very nice though might be worth considering :D
