You're probably best just bringing back the goods and then buy them again using the discount. I can't see them applying the discount retrospectively.

Don't forget that AXA members also get a 10% discount at Woodies, saved a bomb over the winter.

For non-Axa members borrow your friend's Axa card or just print this 10% voucher off:

Not unless there was something wrong with them.

Halfords have a no-quibble money-back policy, it sounds good but it has it's downside, it allows the staff to tell you to get a refund and p**s off rather than help you if you have a problem with something you bought from them.

Bought a pair of wiper blades for a 2003 Volvo S60, checked the catalogue on the shelf, picked out the blades it said were right for me. Couldn't fit them as they were the wrong size, brought them back, parked the car right outside the door and spoke to a member of staff. Invited him to come out and verify that they were the wrong size - he was a few steps up a ladder stocking a shelf, he basically told me to take the blades to the till & get a refund, couldn't care less.

OP, return the goods, get a refund and go back the next day and buy them with the discount.

I insured my car with Axa recently and wasn't given a card. Is it something that is sent out in the post later or should I go back and ask for it? Is it a plastic card?

IIRC, You can return any item bought within 7 days for any reason, even if you don't like the colour, for example.

I don't have one either (am with them the past two years)

There is a website called AXA plus where you can print off all the vouchers for the different discounts they offer, you need to sign up online.

They send it out to you in the post, its a credit card sized card.

If you haven't received it after a month or so I would give them a ring or send a mail to inquire, I find it very handy.

Will deffo do this thanks:) (It's most likely they sent it and I lost it ) I often shop where they do discounts, and never get them as I've not the vouchers or the card. That said, I'll have to start carrying a wallet with cards such as those in it, so that I don't "forget" to bring them :)

If you want decent discounts get a trade card, over 50% off items like wipers and bulbs. About 20% off tools. Not everything is discounted though.

I buy lots of stuff there and do the work on the "families" cars, a Trade discount would be handy and not wholly inappropiate, but I dont think my spending qualifies as "high volume spend", though they dont put a figure to that on the site.

Something obvious we are missing here?

I was insured with AXA through a broker for over two years before I got my card. Wasn't even around renewal time I received it, it just randomly came in the post one day.

I've no idea to be honest Matt. I don't really live near a Halfords so the first I heard of a trade card was this thread.

If you have receipts for the past few months, chance it!

Ongoing Boards Deal? be a first, but worth suggesting? Kinda like the Axa Discount?

Or even get to know your local motor factors. Can't see the attraction of Halfords to be honest. Local motor factors give a better service, have way more knowledge than your typical Halfords employee and is usually cheaper.

I havent found MF to be any more useful (I know what Im buying already), not cheaper (around the same but less offers) and most importantly not open late or on Sundays!
MF also tend to be in awkward places and stock far less.

I dont see the attraction of Motorfactors, anything they sell over Halfords I buy online for a fraction of the price and a larger range anyhow. I remember asking a MF if they sold Claybars and being met with confused stares like I was asking for curtain rails. I do use MF from time to time, but they really dont fit with what I want to buy in retail well at all.
