I think it's very sad to read that Father Michael Cleary's son is having a very troubled adult life.He allegedly seriously assaulted a man last October and the injured party is still recovering from his injuries. This illegitimate man did not have the love and joy of having a dad to talk with or go places with and I wonder if finding out about his dad had this negative effect on him.I wish him well, that he get's help with whatever causes his anger and of course that the injured man makes a complete recovery.

Lots of people have no dads, it's no excuse for being a scumbag.

A lot of people grow up without a dad or a mother. No excuse for seriously assaulting anyone else.

There's plenty of people in this country who have troubled relationships, or do not know their Mother and Father, yet they manage to struggle on with out the need to seriously assault people

Im not disputing that he may or may not have had a tough life, but its no excuse for that

    People make mistakes.

He would need to get help before he seriously messes his life up though.

Christ some people on this forum have such a high and mighty attitude.

Plenty of people have had similar or worse fates than him but they never put anybody in hospital.

Plenty of troubled young men brought up without fathers out there causing mayhem. Don't remember them getting mucn sympathy in here. Maybe if it helps if you're not working class and your absent father is in(famous).

In fairness, I actually know somebody that knows him and always heard he wasn't the worst.

Seems like a decent chap anytime I seen him interviewed.

Would have taken a lot being said to him, for him to then assault them.

I haven't spoken to my dad since I was 11. However, I have never beaten anybody to a bloody pulp.

I'd feel more "sad" for the poor bloke he kicked the sh*t out of.

Serious case of misplaced sypmathy OP.

If you've got to the stage that you're beating people up in the street I think it's gone a bit past a "mistake". It starts off with a small amount of anger and violence and builds up over years.

Which is why I said he should get help sooner rather than later. Like Pete said he seems like a very calm bloke so something must have been said.

    More info
    http://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/fr-michael-clearys-son-ross-back-in-court-on-assault-charge-490240.html
A man, who was allegedly attacked by actor and model Ross Hamilton last October is still receiving treatment for his injuries, a court heard today.

The defendant - a son of Fr Michael Cleary, one of Ireland's best known priests who died in 1993 - appeared at Dublin District Court today for a fourth time since he was charged.

Mr Hamilton (aged 33), of Whitworth Road, in Phibsboro, in Dublin, is accused of assault causing harm to a male, breach of the peace and being intoxicated in public at Prospect Way, in Glasnevin, in Dublin, on October 1 last.

He also faces charges for unlawful possession of a quantity of cannabis and violent behaviour at Mountjoy garda station, on the same date.

Judge Denis McLoughlin heard today that the DPP had directed summary disposal meaning the case should stay in the jurisdiction of the District Court and not be sent to the Circuit Court, which has wider sentencing powers.

However, Judge McLoughlin said that he could not rule on the issue of jurisdiction and venue for the defendant's trial until a medical report on the complainant's injuries had been furnished to the court.

He noted that the alleged incident was in October and said: “It is now January, he is still receiving ongoing treatment, I will need an actual report.”

The court heard that the medical report could be made available next week. Judge McLoughlin remanded Mr Hamilton, who remained silent during the case, on continuing bail to appear again on January 28 next.

Earlier in the case, the court had also directed the State to provide disclosure of CCTV evidence to the defence.

Following the death of Fr Cleary, who was popularly known as the “Singing Priest”, it was revealed that he had fathered two children with his housekeeper Phyllis Hamilton with whom he had a relationship for 26 years.

Their first child was given up for adoption, while their second son, Ross, lived in Dublin at parochial house in Harold's Cross, with Fr Cleary and Hamilton, who died in 2001.

Wow there, he hasn't been found guilty of anything. He was in a fight is all we know and we don't know how it even started yet.

No word there in the article provoked the attack, whioch obviously doesn't excuse it but it might not have been a case of simply walking up and laying into the bloke.

Maybe he's put up with a lot of taunting down the years or somthing. I think he was on the TV talking about his father a few times.

That said, If Father Michwal Cleary was my da, I'd probably have been happy not to have met him...

If the son of god was crucified it would seem fair that the son of a priest gets tied to a tree for a couple of days.
I bet he's on the guest list for heaven,no purgatory for him.

Psychopaths are the calmest people of all because they have no fear. Just saying :P
Anyways from the OP I was under the impression his life is screwed up and he's a mess?
