Driving holding Phone Charge

Quick question...got pulled for driving holding my mobile under s.3 Road Traffic Act 2006 back before Christmas. Long story short, put it on the back burner until after Christmas, only found it lately and went to the Post Office to pay it but it was the 57th day, which is a day late as it has now reached summons stage.

I'm aware of the extra 2 points penalty, but what is the likely financial penalty? I know the legislation says £2k but I assume that would only arise where the charge is being fully contested etc...

For the record, I'm not seeking advice in relation to my own case, I only give the background so that anyone in the know can give me the figure I am likely to face. Thanks.

Usually between €100 and €300 depending on the Judge and whether there is a plea or not
