Maybe. A dish + Freesat is more reliable and gives more, though some Freeview channels (Dave) missing.

Can you check the uhf channel number you are getting that on?
It could be a high pressure visitor from NW england or wales or scotland or NI.

Many parts of East wicklow and much of East and north wexford get reliable reception of uk freeview from wales since digital switch over there and their power increase which has already happened.

Others will know your area,I don't but it strikes me as a divis or brougher possibility and of course after NI dso,any relay thats currently possible there in analogue.
Poster to be confirmed should know.

usually if you flick to one of those channels even if it's gone and then choose a manual digital retune, but dont go through with it....the tellys retune screen will have the channel number of that channel displayed.
So flick on Dave for example and go through that process to see.

    Hi Guys
anyone got freeview working on an aerial in north Wicklow I'm interested in Greystones as I have sight of the sea I was wondering about what type of aerial would get the english freeview and irish dtt, I have fta sat but there are more channels on freeview.
    regards DLB

No, there are LESS channels on Freeview, but maybe 3 to 5 Freeview Channels you want that are not Free on Satellite.

As to how long that will last no-one can say. More HD on satellite.

If your neighbours have terrestrial aerials, then you may be in with a chance. I'm also in Greystones, but am in a dip, so can't receive Freeview:(
The transmitter in question is Arfon, which is "Freeview Lite" as it is a relay station so you won't get the full range of Freeview channels.

Blaenplwyf might be an option though, which is full freeview.
A unix 100 wideband and masthead amp would pick up that one maybe if pointed horizontal but would definitely give you arfon and the greystones relay for saorview with just the one aerial.
The advantage is cheap multiroom tv and an epg that has uk and irish channels all on the one epg.

    Me again
I just looked at a map and greystones has line of site to Blaenplwyf, any ideas where I could hire an aerial to see if it works with a view to buying it
    regards DLB

Don't know anyone who had solid reception of Blaenplwyf analogue in Greystones. It's a long sea path. Arfon is totally reliable as it is almost directly east and is located high up. Are you high above Greystones or nearly at sea level? Have a look at the aerials around the town - all vertically polarised for Arfon.

I don't know anyone who has sucessfully continuously tested Blaenplwyf near you.
I think there was someone posting here in or around kilpedar somewhere alright who had mixed results.
In theory, set up right it should work as it's double the power of presely which works well over a seapath of 99 miles to me.
Blaenplwyf has full power towards nw wales so should have no restrictions towards greystones,it does towards arklow to protect the arklow transmitter that uses its frequency.
But really to test it you'd want a good meter.

I know though that a poster here who hasn't been around as much gtg60 told me it's working well at his parents house in rathdrum.
Thats a while ago though and I've had no updates.

It's the UHF channel no. we're after.
Channel One & ITV3 should have the same one (ch.23 in the case of Divis).

I'd be a happy bunny if they put Dave on Freesat - when you are looking for a half-hour of something funny or light Dave always seems to have an answer.

Likely either Dave will leave Freeview and be on Topup TV or Dave will leave Pay TV and join Freesat. It's the main anomaly OK.

Could be Divis or Brougher, you'll have to wait at least another year for a power increase.
In the meantime check the condition of your aerial (I'm assuming you have a dedicated aerial for NI reception, if not then that would be interesting).
You probably have satellite already, if not, go with that. Also, as pointed out above, the channel lineup could change before then.
