    Hi

My head is actually done in trying to find a location to visit for our summer holidays this year.

We generally like to in May or September when it is a little quieter. We like to stay in really nice hotels with a touch of luxury and the massive all in style does not appeal to us.

In addition, we like pritty much gaurenteed sun and we also like to be within walking distance (not next door) to shops, bars and resturants.

Can anyone suggest something that fits are bill? We are happy to pay a premium if our requirements are met

    Cheers

    Guys

There's an island off the cost of Tuscany called Elba, it's not overly expensive but dear enough to keep the louts out. It's packed with beautiful beaches. I'd highly recommend it, it's one of the nicest places I've ever been and I've been a good few places.
My heads also wrecked on where to go this year. Went to the emerald coast in Sardinia last year it was lovely, but without a yacht and a Ferrari you'd feel like a peasant, it's just to expensive. If your a billionaire I'd recommend it.

It doesn't look amazing from what I can see on google what's the major attraction?
Elba involves a ferry ride and probably a rent a car but it's well worth it. I can't praise the place enough, not sure about the weather in May but I was there in early september and it was just right, hot but not to hot, you could easily lie on one of the white sandy beaches all day. Water was bath tub warm.

Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort, Spa & Casino, Meloneras, Gran Canaria. Lovely spot, Meloneras is a quiet and luxury spot but within walking distance of Meloneras which has all you need.

    Have a look at tripadvisor

San Antonio Hotel in Puerto Del Carmen, Lanzarote. The best breakfast and dinner menus around too.
Its at the north end and nice and quiet as is Lanzarote in off-season which has no building higher than three stories apart from one hotel built in the 70s before the building regulations for preservation were instilled.
There's actually a culture here to explore as well if bored with lazing about.
I'm on Lanza now (apt is just down the road from the San Antonio) and it was easily 24C today. Best week weather-wise here in January I've had in a few years.

Cabo de Gata in Almeria. You could fly to Malaga and hire a car. It's gorgeous, near the dryest spot in Europe, good food, some good hotels. Some towns are quieter than others, so you can have a look around and see what you'd prefer. Amazing beaches, the best ones you have to walk a bit too, but worth it. Though of course the towns have nice beaches too!

    +1
You could also fly into Almeria airport from Dublin (Ryanair).

I've been to Mojacar (about an hour's drive from Almeria) a few times, its beautiful and very peaceful (in the times that the OP mentioned)

I'd suggest looking at Sardinia. It has some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe in my opinion, fabulous food and the majority of resorts would be fairly quiet and relaxing.

If you're looking for high end luxury, head for the Costa Esmeralda.

When I went there we flew with Ryanair and booked accommodation through www.justsardinia.co.uk

I was about to start a very similar thread. Myself and the OH have a very similar idea on holidays.....quality accommodation, food, weather etc, but quiet. I'll have a look at the recommendations above. Thanks.
