Europe zone 1 is 8.99stg shipping. Its ibox that sell it, not amazon so super saver delivery doesnt apply.

I got a hdmi lead recently on ebay for 6 quid delivered - best I could find

Edit : Actually there is one there for £1.45 and is eligible for super saver delivery -ThinkPrice

Just hit used and have a look. Of course, add a bit of postage, but anyone buying and availing of the free postage offer may as well throw this in :pac:

    ThinkPrice is the seller

    Cheers.
Always good to have a few spares :)

Now don't get me wrong, I don't believe in all that crap about gold/platinum cables for 100 euros when it's all ones and zeros that's flying down the cable but 1.45 is just a little too cheap for me for a HDMI cable.

I wouldn't buy a washing machine that cost 50 euros for precisely the same reason. Considering the money you're spending on the TV and Blu-Ray player I really don't think it makes sense to go that low on the cable to join them up - 20 euros or so would be my rough spend next time I go for a 1.4 HDMI cable..

This is the kind of thing to keep in mind when you are £1 or so under the supersaver delivery margin of £25. Better to pay £1.45 and get a cable out of it than pay £6 or something similar for postage and have nothing extra.

Or you can have this cable for €2.49 including delivery.

It says free UK delivery but run it through the checkout and its free delivery to here also :)

Got one of these last year from Amazon.

Can't remember what the GBP price was at the time but just looked at my cc bill online there and it came to €3.31 delivered and works perfectly.

The way I look at it is that it's digital – the 1s and 0s either transfer across it or they don't, no matter what the cost.

Been looking for another hdmi cable and, at that price, I'll give this one a shot.

There is no such thing as a 1.4 or for that matter a 1. anything cable , those numbers refer to device electronics only and not to cables.

Nope if you read it the 1.4 refers to the HDMI specifications for device and cables, i sell the damn things so i think i may be little more informed :)

Please show where it states that 1.4 refers to devices and cables?

A HDMI 1.4 feature such as ARC will work with ANY HDMI cable...

"All HDMI cables will support Audio Return Channel functionality when connected to Audio Return Channel-enabled devices. You can use your existing HDMI cables"

    http://www.hdmi.org/manufacturer/hdmi_1_4/arc.aspx

The only difference with any HDMI cable is (build quality and high speed aside) if its with ethernet or not.
All the rest is just fluff and BS that staff at the likes of Harvey Norman will tell you to get you to buy a more expensive cable.

Cable manufacturers officially are prohibited to market the cables by HDMI standard version (for instance "HDMI 1.4 cable") - the cables are distinguished in 'bitrate' support only.

Apologies mathie you're right on all counts! I noticed triple shielding is another factor in the price of the cables though i doubt it would matter unless theres tons of cabling, am i right?

Another (dare I say) irrelevant aspect of a HDMI cable that shops will mention to try to get you to buy their overpriced cables.

    See here ...

Ah right so only difference between one HDMI cable to the next really is colour and length!

Yeah that's right and also build quality and ethernet capability.
