I just came across this interesting price offered to Lakeland costumers (USA).

A fixed price for DHW of $ 34.95 covering a household of 4 persons. The price guaranteed for 20 years. No upfront costs. No subsidies, no PAYS scheme or other smoke grenades.

What have the Irish builders, specifiers, installers and utility companies to offer in that range (no up front cost and price guaranteed for 20 years, all maintenance of the system included) ?

I wonder if the TEEU is training quality plumbers ( http://www.expatforum.com/ireland/new-wave-of-irish-immigration-predicted.html ) to work abroad why we don't see similar offers here at home. Unsubsidised cheap energy thanks to intelligent calculation and installation. Are only the lesser qualified home energy specialists staying ?

It would be nice to see some evidence that this isn't the case...

Here the scheme offered from Lakeside:

And of course, there is already a waiting list:

So what is or would be the guaranteed price of a similar contract (DHW for 20 years) in a typical Irish situation ?

    Thanks!

Thats the USA. We are in Ireland and this is the prices/costs sub forum. Have I missed something in your post?

and surely solar power in Florida would be considerably different to solar power in Ireland?

they are trying to generate wind farms here for a similar type renewable energy source, but I doubt Ireland would be suitable for any sort of group solar energy systems.

    Here my question again:

So what is or would be the guaranteed price of a similar contract (DHW for 20 years) in a typical Irish situation ?

    To put it more plainly:

What does it cost per month to supply a 4 person household with domestic hot water ?
    In Ireland. Incl. all costs.

We live under the same sky.
To compare prices we have to ask for the costs. Per consumed thermal unit (kWh) over a length of time, here: 20 years, payed monthly on a fixed rate.

But they see a lot more of it for a lot longer than we do. They also enjoy much larger solar effect than us. If you can't understand that then there is a very basic lack of comprehension on your side.

In other words: you can't answer my question .

    But again :

We are NOT looking for a particular thermal source, Quazzie.

The price of DHW, that's all I want to know from our cost-concerned specialists.

Its a very specific question, and I don't think many would know. You'd have to research many different fields and do a lot of costs analysis to come up with an answer.

Also if I'm not mistaken isn't a lot of DHW piped from a single source in the USA, which immediately we don't have the network to do. This would mean that the DHW would have to be provided on site, and the cost of this would be hugely variable in accordance with many factors.

The only answer available for you is that there isn't one, as you are not comparing like with like.

I think Quazzie has summed it up nicely above.

From a moderating point of view this is not something that is sitting on a shelf and can be brought up to the checkout or something that can be delivered at a days notice to some supplier or other and is therefore in breach of the forum charter which specifically states this
This forum is intended for discussing and posting all pricing and costings associated with the building industry particularly the private house sector. We would hope that fellow users will find this forum a place to both look for prices for products and services and also a place where they can share with others the bargains they have found and also exchange recommendations, tips and advice when seeking prices for various products.

@ heinbloed, if you want a discussion on this let me know and I'll happily move the thread to the RE forum but for now Im locking this.
