Hi all, just wondering if anyone knows are the Ryanair staff now scanning boarding passes at the gate. Ive just printed out my passes and theres no passport no, d.o.b., etc on it eventhough I entered all the passport details as before.
Do they now just check the name as you board (as they used to do)
or do they scan each one again and check all your passport details?
I remember the last times I flew with them your boarding pass was scanned at security but not at the gate.
    Cheers.

    - boarding pass is scanned by security guy before security check
    - O'Leary staff will check your passport and boarding pass at the gate, just before boarding. Oh, and they will check your cabin luggage size and will try to get a few extra bob of you there too ;)

The boarding passes haven't had the passport details on them for some time now

Yes Ryanair staff or the handling agent will check and scan your boarding pass at the gate. Your Boarding pass no longer has your passport details. The only personal information is you name and nationality.

Upon mature reflection, and looking at the Boarding Cards, my Ryanair ones didn't have the passport details, but my EasyJet ones did.

I once made my way to spain on a ryanair flight without showing my passport once to anyone in Dublin (guess they must have been trying to save time). I needed it to pass customs in spain. Coming back I had to show it 3 times.

I suspect that the whole reason you have to enter your passport details is for the Spanish "advance information something something" thingy - Aer Lingus don't even ask for your passport details when checking in online, so it's definitely not a required thing for flying out of Dublin. And I'd imagine that it would be too expensive for Ryanair to build a "smart" system which only asks for details that they actually _need_.
