I am so pissed off at see politicans running away with their fat pensions. Here is a list of what you can do to help.

    - cheat the tax system where ever possible
    - go on the dole and work cash in hand jobs
    - shop up north at least once a month and bulk buy
    - grow your own vegetable garden and keep hens
    - shop in secondhand shops to avoid paying vat.
    - stop buying cigarettes. Buy cannabis instead.
    - Stop buying drink. Make your own poitin or buy your alcohol up north.
    - Walk where ever possible instead of using your car

    "Help"?
I'd hate to see the hinder side of the argument.

shopping up the north actually isn't very good value anymore, their vat rate went up.

Add in the cost of fuel and you're probably spending a fair bit more up North.

    +1 for hand jobs

Let's see now... tobacco - Forty Cent per gram
cannabis - Fourteen Euro per gram

... I see how that is a viable option....

Spend your money up north anyways instead of down south.

Ha ha, some good ideas. I have about 3 of them going at the moment. But on a serious note, eventually these guys are going to drive people onto the streets to protest and that's the only way we can realistically change Ireland. He who shouts the loudest usually gets noticed. Break the system down I say. We need a revolution.

Well, I'm not voting for you. All I asked is if you had any better ideas, now I'm in some bluddy internet fist fight! OP has raised a matter for discussion and jumping down OPs throat won't convince him/her to change an opinion.

And as I said, do the opposite of what the OP thinks. Oh and grow your own veg.

I would sell the naming rights of xmas, paddys day and every other public holiday. It would create hundreds of millions out of nothing. And sell the naming rights to Dublin airport.

    - cheat the tax system where ever possible
Doing this could result in jail/large fine, and is quite impractical unless you're self employed/working abroad, in which case there are tax avoidance measures you can take which are legal
    - go on the dole and work cash in hand jobs
Again, benefit fraud can land you in jail, you could have your benefits withdrawn, and is increasingly frowned upon and reported by decent people and
    - shop up north at least once a month and bulk buy
Not as cheap as it once was, also quite an inconvenience
    - grow your own vegetable garden and keep hens
    Good idea
    - shop in secondhand shops to avoid paying vat.
Fair enough if thats what you want, though personally I wouldnt wear or have my family wearing second hand clothes etc. Dont really no what other type of second hand shops there are
    - stop buying cigarettes. Buy cannabis instead.
Well firstly, thats illegal and punishable by jail. Secondly, you could put your job at risk, and thirdly, its not really socially acceptable to spark up a joint in the pub smoking area or any public areas really
    - Stop buying drink. Make your own poitin or buy your alcohol up north.
Why would put yourself out to such an extent to make a point nobody is going to notice that you're making. Your also preventing yourself from heading out for a few drinks, instead limiting yourself to drinking at home all the time
    - Walk where ever possible instead of using your car
Again, you're really putting yourself out here to prove a point that nobody will notice you're making

TBH OP, you're really doing alot of things that will seriously inconvienence yourself, and you're getting very little in return

Here's another, simpler way: GTFO and vote on march 11th!

Have protests really been working to date? No. Will they ever? No.

No actually, it's correct, a third or subsequent conviction of possession of cannabis can result in jail time of up to a year.

Have a look at section 3 of the misuse of drugs act - Possesion of a controlled substance. Maximum sentence of 12 mths

Its not that, its that I do what I want to do. Im not going to stop drinking because of the tax on alchol, nor am I going to stop driving because of the tax on petrol. Fair enough if others want to do something to make a point, but Im just going to carry on doing my own thing, and wont be going out of my way to make any points

Jaysus. If you're paying that much above the market rate for your drugs you should seriously consider applying for the Minister for Health vacancy. Anybody spending their own money would have "shopped around" in the fat useless cnut's own words.

Don't turn this into an argument about fcekin' drugs, like any product, price varies with quality, get over it, stick on topic.

OP Im sure you think this is a brilliant idea but realistically we have to pay tax and where do you think the money for the dole is coming from.

shopping up north is a waste of time Imo.

growing your own veg and keeping hens is great if you live in the country. I do but I prefer to go to the shop and buys eggs, chicken and veg.

walking to work is grand if you live near your job but for those of us that have to travel long distance it just is not possible.

is cannabis free to anyone who wants it ?

Im just going to ignore the secondhand shop and the poitin.

Its not as fight the power, but this is what I think would help save Ireland

    - Do not vote for FF and if you know some die hard FF person try to convince them not to vote for them either

-This is going to be hard for most Irish people (from looking at past elections) but in 4-8 years time when they are promising the sun and the moon remember what FF did last time they were in power, and the time before that, and the time.. well you get the picture

    - Buy Irish* wherever you can within reason, if the price difference is within 10% buy Irish.

    - Buy from local shops within reason, again if its a rip-off don't go there just because its Irish

    - Pay your taxes

    - Get out of the "me me me" mentality and think of the greater good

    - Don't shop up north

    - If you have a chance to get a better education or to start a business then go for it, we have to try and dig ourselves out.

    - without going crazy, we do need to spend money to get the economy up and running again

    *from the Republic
