Work-around to get exemptions for ACCA or ACA?

    Hi all,

I was just wondering if there is any part-time master/course in Dublin which will allow me to obtain exemptions for all fundamental modules in ACCA (from F1 to F9) or all the CAT 1 & 2 in ACA?

    Ideally a 1-2 years part-time master / course.

I just see the pass rates for the ACCA / ACA exam papers and they look depressing so I was wondering if I could study a master in order to "pass" most of these ACCA / ACA exams (getting exemptions).

Many thanks in advance for your advise.

Google the Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting, DIT have one, not sure where else. There are also Masters in Accounting that will give you the exemptions you want.

Be warned though, they are not an easier route than the professional exams. By all accounts, they are very demanding.

Are they worth to consider or they are just as hard to pass as the ACCA / ACA exams? Are their pass rate as low as the the accounting chartered bodies?

    Hard to compare,

Professional exams have low pass rates, but if you work your arse off for 1-2 months before them with a bit of study leave. You should be ok, you may need to repeat one or two but that's life.

PGD or Masters, the exams will probably be a bit easier, but you're commiting to a year or two of tough course work, regular exams, continuous assesment and project work.

There is no easy option, there is no shortcut to being an accountant. Any of the accounting bodies will expect and demand that you have a certain level of skill and ability before they let you qualify.

Thanks again for your advice, I really appreciate it.

I was just thinking of doing a Master or Postgraduate to become a Chartered Account as these will force me to be more disciplined and study more regularly, as you say with regular course-works, assessments, exams, etc.

    One last question.

I can’t find the PGD or any accounting Master (with ACCA / ACA exemptions) part-time or with evening classes.
Are you aware of any School / College which run any of these courses / masters in the evenings?

    Cheers.
