processor usage-video decoder issue

i have windows xp,core 2 duo 6400 @2.13ghz and 3gb ram i'm using tversiyy and ffdshow to transcode to the xbox-working fine problem is my processor usage is up at 95% and pc is slowing right down even 'after' i stop playing movies on the xbox the ffdshow icons are still on the taskbar afterwards any help appreciated thanks
