Apple dock making volume appear

I use an Apple Dock to charge my iPhone 3GS via my iMac. Lately, when its sitting in its dock, the screen keeps lighting up and showing the ringer volume level. It never used to do it, and apart from that it still works fine. Its just really annoying that intermittently keeps lighting up of its own accord. Has anyone else…

I know, I had some dust from my pocket in the bottom part of my phone and I was getting all sorts of different messages. Once I gave it a good clean out I got no messages anymore.

Yeah, sure does! Sadly, that didn't make it stop flashing the volume level up on screen.
