    What do you think of this car? Worth getting Whats it like to run 2ltr petrol? Im a car novice so just looking for advice Currently have a 1.6 99 focus?

    servicing costs on the 2.0 petrol are eyewatering for anything other than the basics.

    they arent known to have any major problems though, also im sure the 2.0 petrol is fwd only, so dont plan on doing any off roading.

    No theyre not.Same as any other 2.0l petrol model really.
    Oil filters around 7.00,air filter about 18.00,set plugs about 25.
    Pads around €65 front and rear although in all my time in Hyundai I never saw set of rear pads changed before 80k miles and front usually last around 50-60--Genuine pads only.

    Ive seen motor factor pads last only about 10k though so its worth paying the extra.

    They do have one major problem and thats timing belts snapping prematurely.The recommended mileage is 36000 but Ive seen them go at 26000-28000 and its a huge job costing 1500+ if it breaks early.

    Other than the belt they give no problems at all.

    Had one of these for 4 years and never had any problems with it.

    pwoah! 26,000 :eek: id be a bit disappointed.

    generally though, yes reliable bits of kit :)

    was just suggesting to bare in mind the cost of rubber and the likes, general jeep sized running costs

    They werent particulary heavy on tyres since as you mentioned earlier they were front wheel drive only.

    jaysus, you may aswel change it every service. :pac: still belts are cheaper than engines lol

    true as that is, they still cost the same when the time comes to buy them.

    id imagine with the mentality these days the prices of the petrol variants has fallen through the floor, good time if someone is looking for one.

    A friend of mine had a Santa Fé 2.0 petrol, and in his own words, he described it as a "chronic alcoholic" on fuel.

    This particular car gave him some grief too. He was driving down to Westport on a wet night and a coil failed. He drove it for around 30 miles before he reached civilisation, and in doing so, the spikes blew the ECU and the excess unburnt fuel wrecked the CAT. The car was repaired under warranty and he sold it a few months later for half nothing, and bought a Honda CR-V instead. The Honda was no economiser, but much better on the fuel the Santa Fé

    If you really want a Santa Fé, buy a diesel one instead. ;)

    Then you can double the cost of getting a timing belt changed since the water pump,all the pulleys etc need changing as well.Diesel is 4wd so you can expect higher tyre prices--changing 4 instead of 2.

    Fuel pipes used to crack on them although they did modify them.

    If it needs a clutch forget about it and sell it on--youll probably need a flywheel aswell and its a dual mass which if I remember right was around 800euros just for the flywheel and about 8 hours labour--I think the whole job was around 1500+ for just a clutch.
