    Hi

I got my hair done in Fame Salon today with a Citydeal voucher and it's the WORST haircut I've ever had. The deal was for wash, cut, blowdry and treatment and then I paid an extra €47 for a full head of highlights. The colour looks the same as when I went in, you can hardly notice that it took three and a half hours. The worst bit is the shape - they cut way too much off and it has no shape and I now look like Friar Tuck! A total waste of money. Am even considering extensions because I just can't be like this!

I will NEVER go back, regardless of what they offer on Citydeal.

Got my hair done in fame today. Full head of easi-mesh with a cut and blow dry only €70. Had a brilliant experience. The guy who cut my hair listened and was a total perfectionist. Really great cut and thinned out my short hair perfectly. Colour is Delish, I've short blonde hair and they warmed up the blonde completely. While I wad there I hot my eyebrows threaded and tinted, eyelashes dyed and a full set of gel nails too. All for €150 ! well impressed. Shop front doesn't do anything for the place but once onside it'd s different story. Will def be going back!!

Does anyone know what their spray tan is like, there are no details on the website. I got a citydeals voucher for the manicure/pedicure and there is 20% off spray tans aswel so was thinking of using it for a wedding I've got coming up. Does anyone have any experience of the tan?

    Thanks a mill!

They are chancers, do yourself a favour and go spend the little bit extra and get it done elsewhere seeing as its for a wedding, I wouldn't risk it!

I had an awful experience there!! Never, ever again. 2 of my mates went there and said the same, never again.

    Its a dreadful kip

Thanks for your response Temply, is that for tan or nails that you had a bad experience? I bought the voucher so will prob get the manicure/pedicure done anyway, at least thats easily rectified if it goes horribly wrong! :D

Like everyone else it seems, I bought the citydeal voucher that allowed me to get my hair washed cut and blowvdried for a reduced price.

After buying it, I went on here and read the reviews of the place and I have to say I was more than a little nervous walking in to my appointment. But I couldn't have been made feel more welcome. The outside does it no good at all - the sign looks shabby and dodgy but inside is lovely and really comfortable. The receptionist at the desk - a man - greeted me with a warm smile and had no problem with my citydeal voucher. He was perfectly pleasant and in no way snooty.
I got my hair washed by a lovely asian woman who offered me tea or coffee and even gave me a mini head massage - nice. She also complemented me on my nail colour which was an added boost! :)

The girl who cut my hair also couldn't have been nicer- she was from Eastern Europe or somewhere but spoke perfect english and understood exactly what I wanted. Usually I wind up coming out of the hairdressers with my hair far too short for my liking no matter what I had said to the hair dresser beforehand. This time in Fame, they listened! She cut it well and was careful and gentle! It was great. I left feeling really relaxed and confident. Plus my appointment was at 5.30 and they shut at 6pm so I thought maybe they'd do a rush job but instead they took an hr and a bit to do my hair and there were plenty of other clients there too with noone being rushed at all.

Overall my experience there was a ten out of ten and for me that means going back every single time. It certainly doesn't deserve the reviews it's gotten here. When I look back and read them I actually can't believe it's the same place. And the most annoying reviews are those who just say 'Awful never go there" but don't actually elaborate on why its so bad! Grrrr... Anyways I just had to write a review of my experience after being there esp. with a lot of these negative reviews. It just doesn't seem right when these people treated me with nothing but courtesy and did a great job on my hair too. If I were you, don't listen to the naysayers. Try it for yourself and make up your OWN mind.

I got my highlights done in there. Some lad with dreadlocks put them in, a good inch from my roots - very slap dash - 2 friends went in also, and were disgusted altogether with their highlights.

After having an experience like that & 2 of my mates having similiar - it does turn you off a place completely, regardless of what you're getting done. I shiver any time I pass it now!!! :D

I agree with RD1984 on this one. every salon is for the individual person to decide on. My hair has been ruined previously by other hair salons such as toni and guy, Peter Marks and other top of the range salons. Temply You say that a guy with dreadlocks did your hair, on the day I got mine done it was a very nice asian man who id mine. Each hairdresser is different.

In all I had a really pleasant experience with Fame. Of coursen next time i will be asking for the same guy to do my hair, because as with any salon, another hairdresser might not be the same.

As for Smiley Lassie, I had my gel nails done there too and they are fantastic. The girl was very gentle when filing and very chatty. She put alot of time and effort into the nails and they turned out great. Ive had several compliments by randomers at checkouts about them.

    Hi Ladyhawk!

Thanks a mill, that sounds like they are great, I'm not actually getting gel nails, its just a manicure and pedicure. But it sounds good so won't feel so nervous booking it!

Looks like this place simply has a couple of really good professionals mixed in with a few who are pretty bad to put mildly.

I went to this place twice - I suppose my own fault for being greedy (both times on citydeal vouchers), as the first time I wasn't too happy with the result. I got a haircut and highlights, but the colour faded away within days, and the cut was just horrible. They managed to chop it so unevenly that even on my wavy hair you could see the obvious difference in length on each side.

The second time I went to get "semi-permanent" eye lashes, as I was planning to get extensions for a friend's wedding, so that seemed like a good alternative for great value.
A colleague of mine has the semi-permanent eye lashes, and they look amazing (not too unlike from the picture the deal was advertsied with), but when I saw the extensions they were going to use, I asked if they knew I was expecting a different service. I got a response that they never said to their customers they did semi-permanent eyelashes as they were aware it was a different thing - nevertheless they allowed their ad on citydeal to state that for several days while probably a few hundred people bought into it.

Then the girl said since I was wearing mascara and she had to remove it, she wouldn't guarantee they would stay for 2 weeks (the ad said 3 weeks). Then also added I shouldn't put "any water on my face", otherwise she wouldn't even guarantee one week. So within a 2 minute conversation we went from a promise of 3 weeks to less than 1 - who might have thought a person would need to have a shower or two in the space of three weeks!

Since the wedding was in two days, and I didn't have any spare time to schedule another appointment, with reluctance I decided to go fo it - what the heck, it was only €12. So straight away I was told they ran out of the long eye lashes. OK. Then the girl insisted on me having my eyes opened, even though I did say I had sensitive eyes, and they started watering as soon as she opened the bottle with the glue. OK. Eeventually I did have to ask her to stop rubbing my eye ball with a piece of paper, as it would only make my eyes water more. OKish
The final result - the eyelashes covered half of my eyes, imparing the vision and making my eyes actually look smaller!!! Not OK. Whatever about the fake eyelashes, but in my experience they are supposed to make you look better - not worse! I still have them, 5 days later, though a few of them have been flowwing right into my eye since the very first evening.
Even after trying to bend them (the girl in the salon refused to curl them) I look really odd, and make sure to rub my face well every day in the shower as I can't wait for the sodding things to come off.

I wouldn't recommend this place to any of my friends simply because it is such hit and miss judging by the reviews. Nobody seemed to give it average marks, it's either really lovely, or absolutely horrible, and it's just not worth the risk, unless you go to the same specialist and you are happy with them.

Ahhh i'm supposed to be getting the eyelashes done there this evening for a wedding on saturday - this is not the first bad review i've read about the eyelashes, so for teh sake of €12 i think i'll pass.

Unbelievable. If enough people complain to citydeal i wonder will they reinstate the cost to people?

Citydeal don't do refunds after 7 days, but I called them about a voucher I bought for Vs Restaurant a while back as a friend of mine had gone and was very disappointed. They offered to add a credit to my account instead of a refund, which is just as good as I buy vouchers regularly. However, at that stage I hadn't used the voucher, so not sure they'd do it for the people who already used their voucher and weren't happy with the service.

NumptyB, for you it's worth calling them though.
