I have my XP VM running on my win 7 pc and can access the internet and network fine from it. Is it possible though to access the XP VM from another computer on the network? i would like to set up a vnc on it so others can acess it.
It has the same i.p as the win 7 host so not sure if it is possible.

    yes it's possible

if it has the same IP as the host then it's not possible with the current config as you are probably NATing

which VM are you using as the network config for bridging etc. is different on each

    virtualpc
    virtualbox
    vmware
    other

you could always install teamviewer and connect via it - no messing with network settings and bypasses any firewall or NAT

    teamviewer works great.
Also founs this handy tutuorial on how to configure the XP vm, including networking
    http://www.7tutorials.com/how-configure-windows-virtual-pc-settings

I wonder if they could make that bloody "settings" option when you click on the vm image just a tiny bit more obvious to the naked eye....
