Due to a wayleave agreement I recently signed giving me 25 euro credit per month and the fact I am sick of the blue sly epg I am leaving murdock for upc tv. Apparently the Hd service isn't in my area yet but is it possible and preferable to get a hd box (like with sky) with more capacity and better epg or will that not be an option?

I doubt they'll give you one without having the HD service.

They actually might. Friend of mine got one last year in Blackrock. There was no HD service there at the time!

For anyone still interested in this thread, i'm getting my new upc hd box delivered tomorrow, even though there's no hd service in the area, i just told them i was going to sky if they dident send me one, there still gonna charge me an extra fiver a month but i don't mind as the signal trough the scart lead on the old box to the new led tv was not worth paying for.

If you choose to downgrade from the HD service, I would be very surprised if they chose to take the box back.

We have has one of the old Pace ones for years since we cancelled the subscription on that room. They didn't bother to take that back. Can't see why'd they'd bother to take another back especially from a continuining subscriber

How do you know it's the box that's the problem and not the SCART cable?

I get a superb picture on a 42" LCD TV from a non-HD box with the UPC-supplied SCART cable, HD is not available in my area.
