I've had this on the radar for a while now.
It's basically a remake/spirtual successor to Dungeon keeper with a few differences. On first look though, it seems very similar. Out in 3 weeks.

Looking forward to it. Dungeon keeper was the first PC game I ever really played, only being able to afford a pc in '98 for my final year of college.

    Bit expensive though:

Looks quite interesting - though looking at the steam game video the gfx don't look the silkiest. Will probably wait for a number of reviews to come in before deciding whether to go for it.

I don't know if they wanted to keep the graphics looking like the original DK?
They are quite basic. I know it's only a small dev team working on it.

This is a must purchase for me if it is any way decent , its 45 on impulse too so might as well just get it on steam. Loved the original dungeon keepers

I got it on gamersgate. They still think I'm in the US for some reason so It was only $39.

I played it. It's fairly rubbish, to be honest. Controls are a little finnicky and the actual gameplay isn't very interesting. Some of the humour in it is good, but other bits just get on your nerves.

I'd say avoid it if you can, or wait until it's dirt cheap.

I've played a bit of it as well. It's a bit disappointing alright. They copied a lot from DK and anything else they added doesn't seem too great.

You spend most of the time in direct control of the Master moving him about like an RPG. As far as I can tell, you have no direct control over the monsters. You just lay pentegrams for them to spawn from but you can't get them to move away from them.

So basically you have to lay the pentegrams in the right place or they'll never engage the enemy. As you lay the pentegrams around, your area of infuence expands. This seems to be a replacement for the way DK made you 'claim' tiles

Another extra thing they added is the fact that you're not supposed to kill the heroes straight away, you have to build gimmicks (treasures etc) for them to loot then you have to let let them have a fight. The more satisifed they are, the more soul energy you can extract from them. Then you can kill them when they max out.

The problem I had here was that you can't place too many monsters near the treasure or they will kill the heroes too soon. So you end up having to chase them down yourself and kill them. I haven't played it a lot so i may be missing something.

I have played it a lot, and I can say I much preferred DK. Claiming tiles makes sense. This doesnt.

Its boring as hell, I was hoping it would get better but it doesnt.

Am I doing something wrong if I have to constantly chase after 'satisifed' heroes with the master before they escape?

Or can you tell more of the monsters to attack them in a group not just from a nearby pentegram?

I honestly think the pentagram monster are just there to boost the "combat want" of heroes. The heroes always seem to cut through the monsters fairly easily, and I've always had to hunt them down with the master.

If you upgrade the monster levels from the dungeon heart then you can have them kill heroes.

And DK had a better tutorial over 10 years ago.
