I have tried this and it works, only between English and Spanish.

I think you have to set the language to "Generic" or something to get it to work over here. And Google Voice is never that good at picking up what I say. Its Ok for simple commands like "Navigate to" or "Call XXX", but if i try to send a text or email it always get words wrong. So the same happens on the Google Translate App, as it uses Google Voice.
