Does anyone know if that Cake night still runs, and if so, when/where? A friend of mine (and I actually mean 'a friend of mine', not code for 'me') is just starting to come out and really wants to give the 'meeting another lesbian' thing a shot. Failing that, does anyone know any decent lesbian nights I could bring her to? I'd bring her to a random night in the George/Dragon, but in my experience the vast majority of women at those are there with their GBFFs, and for some weird (and infuriating) reason a lot of them take poorly to being hit on by other women.

It was actually on last week, in the Academy. It's roughly once a month.

Ah curses. Thanks for the reply - I'll keep an eye on that page and try to drag her along to the next one. Any suggestions for anything in between? Or is my worry that she'll only meet straight girls unfounded?

The Front Lounge (Parliament Street) tends to have a higher proportion of girls than the other gay bars, if she wanted to try there.

How old is your friend? This would help in terms of recommending events for her.

Should also mention that Ani diFranco is on in the NCH this Saturday - given that she's got an enormous lesbian fanbase...

You should also suggest joing the meetup group Running Amach to your friend. It's how I met most of my lesmo friends, and the girl I'm currently seeing.

    lushballs - she's 20.

Avakinder & rainbowkirby - thanks for the recommendations, thinking about it the Front Lounge may be a better jumping off point in general. And I'll mention the group to her, though I think that may be a "build up to it" thing. Thanks though!
