Can it detect the wireless network?

if it can what happens when you try to connect?

When you plug in the cable do you see any icons in the corner by the clock?

There are a couple of possibilites here.

Start by Clicking Start -> Run (or search depending on windows version)

    type cmd and press return.

You should get a black command prompt window.

Type in ipconfig and press return.

Scroll through the output and see if your network adapters are installed and enabled.
you should have an entry for wireless network connection and another for Local area Connection.
If you have those does it just say media disconnected or is there details like
    I.P. Address / Default gateway

If you dont see any of them listed make sure you are not missing drivers
Right click on my computer and click properties under hardware go to device manager and see if anything has a red x or yellow exclamation indicating a problem with the drivers

if you dont see any problems go to control panel -> network connections and make sure they are both enabled.

If they are both enabled right click on the wired connection and click properties, look Internet protocol in the list, click on it and click properties and make sure "Obtain an IP Address automatically" and obtain dns servers automatically are both selected and click ok to close any open windows.

If you are need more specific instructions let me know what version of Windows you are using.

I am using Windows 7. It says its working properly and i tried to diagnose the problem and it says something about "cant connect to DNS server"

    Thanks

Click start run in the search bar type cmd and press enter.

typte the following commands one at a time

    ping 192.168.1.1

    ping google.ie

    ping 209.85.143.99

    ping 89.101.160.4

    ping 89.101.160.5

    Basically just testing the following

    you can ping your router

google.ie is resolved to ip address

one of googles servers can be contacted directly (no dns)

your listed dns servers can be contacted.

check the router settings mate, looks like your laptops ip address is out of routers dns range
    mean
routers dns server is off or set for two available ip addresses only

control panel, network and sharing center, change adapter settings.

right click on local area connection choose properties

then click on internet protocol version 4 then properties

make sure obtain ip address atomatically is ticked

also obtain dns server automatically is ticked..

    click ok..

then do the same for the wireless network connection
