Feeding a Flight Pond

Just had a conversation with a lad about feeding a flight pond for ducks and he's adamant that it's illegal to feed a pond to attract birds for shooting here.( I'm fairly sure he's wrong but happy to be corrected if he's not!) I've never heard this before so thought I'd ask here for clarification

    Thanks

    Paul

I *think* he might be right.

It shouldn't be though, if you feed it and they're more successful breeding (especially if you only shoot drakes) then you'll actually increase the population...

I honestly haven't come accross any legislation to that effect yet. Electronic callers and boats under mechanical propulsion etc are a no no but as I said, never heard about feeding a pond or a section of river bank being illegal.

This is not illegal according to the NARGC anyway and they don't give legal advice lightly.

Any chance this is because the lough is a public place after all is said and done ? If all else fails check with your local PSNI station, the police has a wildlife liaison service who is specialised in this sort of matters but has to be contacted internally ( as not part of the day to day public service ). Information is on the PSNI website.
