I like the look of the frontera but they don't get great reviews. Is there anything good to be said about them. You can pick one up for less than 2k and I won't really be going off road too much. Anybody have any experience with a frontera? Cheers

you pick them up cheap for a reason, woeful yokes, youd pick up a grand cherokee for the same money, also awful but miles better

post 99 ones are an awful lot nicer than the older ones.

quite nice to drive and travel in, cheap to buy but parts can be expensive.

2.2 engine is attractive for passenger road tax, also can be quite economical (my old one avereaged 36mpg)

I'm on my second one, stuffed the first one into a wall :(

Like every car there's bits and pieces that go wrong with them, a good one will be great a bad one could break your heart (my current one, despite 72k miles, full service history, recon injector pump, and a few new sensors still wont do better than 27mpg :(

i had a93 one a few years ago, only problem i had was the rear axle bearings, but sorted it.

the 2.3td or 2.8td ones were the best that time, the 2.5 was built to fall apart

i heard of them developing problems with chassis cracking over the rear axle like the troopers or tfs of the time but never saw one myself,my brother had one too and no major woes

i would steer clear of the cherokee as they had the 2.5 gm diesel engine and i heard nothing but trouble from them

there should be plenty to choose from knocking around the net on donedeal or the like
