I bought an acer aspire one net book before xmas as a present for kid. last night it just died. When you press the power button the light flicks on for a few seconds and then goes off. The machine doesnt make any booting up sound and the screen doesnt turn on at all. It seems to be charging because the light stays on when the power cord is pluged in. Any one any ideas what could have gone wrong on a machine thats been used for less then 1 month

Could be anything better now then when the warranty expires.

If you need to back anything up you will need to take out the hard drive.

Let me know if you need instructions.

It's in warranty, so you should bring it back to where you bought it and they'll either repair or replace it for you or tell you what your next steps are. :)

    disconnect power cable

    remove the battery

press and hold the power button for three minutes

Then try it with just the power cable

if no joy then use the warranty

    BTW
older model acer aspire one's had no easy way for an end user to remove the hard drive.
