    who cares?

Stress. When he was under pressure he found something that comforted him (the jaw jerk movement) and kept it up as the pressure mounted.

    Method of controlling his breathing?

I noticed that too. Used to bug me the way he drew back his lower jaw when he breathed in.

I think he just needs to drink some water and has some seriously dry mouth going on with nerves.

Its a trigger he uses from hypnosis to relax himself id guess. Blair used to use make a circle on one hand, now and again to have the same effect.

It how he relaxes in public speaking, as said Tony Blair who was superb public speaker had his own hand gesture.

Everyone has their own little habits

And it's a better habit that mumbling, am...am...or "you know like"
The last one is very common in Ireland

It's the only way he can sustain the irritation level when the volume is muted.

Form of turrets maybe. GB turned down a Lordship, which gets maximum respect from me.

Same reason that when I'm walking down Grafton St I kick the back of people's heels sideways.

Just a nervous twitch is what my doc tells me.

It's the gag reflex as he listens to the lies he spews forth.

He's sucking in air before the next sentence, once you notice it you can't un-notice it

He suffers from Irritable Jowel Syndrome

Maybe it's got something to do with the rugby accident that left him with only one functioning eye?

I know it's weird, but I have a huge crush on Comrade Brown. Glass eye, slack jaw and all. There's something very Mr Rochester about him, all gruff and misunderstood.

Brian Cowen constantly uses his right hand to touch the top left hand corner of his script when making a speech, it becomes really distracting every time. Even if he ever did say something of substance, I would've missed it.

He used to stutter, its his control method to stop the ticks.

I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention. What did you say?

    He's an egg-eating politician. Rare.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,243 ✭✭✭✭Jesus Wept

He also says 'fin-ancial', I'm starting to think saying it that way is a way of secretly showing your affiliation with the lizards.

    Didn't he have a stroke?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,758 ✭✭✭✭TeddyTedson

Because he's just eaten someone and now they're trying to escape...obviously!

He actually has a stutter and by controlling his breathing like that he stops it.
