Its been sold in the US and other markets for a good while now.

Its not available here though is it? Hardly worth shipping over stock that won't appeal to UK buyers...

Think it's special order and that no diesels have been brought in (I'd say they're backed up with old stock hatches as it is!).

Apparantly though they are changing design direction across the range. Starting with the new Impreza:

I hear Daihatsu are pulling out of Europe because the weakness of the Euro against the Yen has made pricing uncompetitive. Subaru has the same problem, hence the rising prices... They're not like Toyota, Honda, Nissan etc. who have European plants...

Yep I'd heard about this alright. Great news as the saloon Impreza is much more appealing than the hatch. Cant understand why they cut it in the first place. I know Petter Solberg had been lobbying them for a while to produce a hatch version of the Impreza to regain competitiveness with the other hatch shape cars in the WRC but surely they could have still offered the saloon variant. As someone who grew up in love with the WRC Imprezas a hatch version was never really going to win me over (with the exception of Ken Blocks gymkhana Impreza which is rather tasty).

Well the latest daihatsu's are made using mostly Toyota parts so surely they could be made in Toyota's european plant.

I believe that the Impreza saloon is being brought to the UK but not here.
The Saloon has been sold outside europe since the launch of the new model.

Emmissions based VRT and road tax put an end to any chance of the WRX coming here.

BTW the Impreza name has now been dropped along with the hatchback version. It will just be called the Subaru WRX STi.

Pistonheads gave one away at the end of last year
