    quick question

if i was to do my theory test tomorrow how soon realistically could i be on the road with a full licence?

    by the summer?

any truth that it takes forever to get a test? (driving test)

6 months from the date :D Just don't cut it too close. I got my test 5 days before driving 6 months

Pass and apply for the licence tomorrow...receive licence next week or so...pass test in June/July.

I thought you get the licence on the day once you have all the things you require? And I don't mean from the test center.

If you were issued your Learner Permit tomorrow you would have to wait 6 months before being able to sit your test. So the earliest you could have a license is July. You can apply for your driving test before the 6 months are over, so you could technically sit the test on the very first day you were able to.

When you apply for your learner permit it can take a week for them to print it and send it out. It depends on the MTO you go to. Nutgrove takes a week from experience, i'm pretty sure that's the one Midnight_EG would use too.

This can be true. From your tax office or similar

This is the way I must have done it so :D My sister actually got both of my licences for me though in 1 day. Didn't want to drive to cork city on a learners permit.

    Exactly.

Pass theory test. Go down to Motor tax office cert in hand. Allow few days to week for learner permit.

Apply for lessons, you need to produce learner permit on first lesson and any time asked afterwards.

Apply for test as well, you will more than likely be given a date that falls within the 6th month period, reshueld test for day after 6 months is up (beaware, this may count as one of your allowed cancelations, from memory you forfit your test fee after the 3rd cancelation)

Pass test, back down to motor tax office with cert, again few days to week for full licence.

    Good luck.

    ;)

In the section where it asks when are you from available for test insert "until xx date" ie 6 months from issue.

Best advice is to regularly check on the waiting list for your test centre and apply slightly before it. eg 10 week waiting list, apply 12 weeks before the 6 months is up and state the date you are available from

Didn't notice that when applied for mine, must have updated since.
