    Hi
what does Depth of camera when switched off 2.7cm mean?
does it mean the camrea is water proof to that depth?

No, that probably means that the camera is 2.7cm thick when switched off, presumably when the camera is switched on its lens pops out, making it technically thicker than 2.7cm - so the description is just covering that.

Only a tiny minority of cameras are waterproof, if yours is that fact will have been obvious on the box and on the manufacturer's website and will be listed as one of the major features.

Take a look at this Canon waterproof camera to see what I mean where 'waterproof' is the first word in the paragraph below the photo of the camera and the first feature in the list starts with 'Resistant to water....'

    http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product_Finder/Cameras/Digital_Camera/PowerShot/PowerShot_D10

Otherwise you should assume that it most definitely is not waterproof.
