Looking for some advice please. I a hoping the bring my mother out for a Sunday drive this weekend as she broke her wrist and could day with a few hours out of the house. I am looking for any beauty spots even if they are a bit off the beaten track.A nice area where we could park the car and go for a walk. I will be travelling from the North Cork area so someplace near the coast would be nice in East Cork area or any recommended forest walks.

    Thanks in advance

Fota Gardens or Inchidonney Beach followed by lunch in the hotel :)
Gugane Barra is also a pace we go to.

Closer to home might be Milstreet Country Park - if you haven't been already, it's a nice area to walk around. Outside the Park, there's some other nice things to see along the scenic roads, some Ogham Stones, and a Dolmen.

Kinsale, Nice viewing area at Charles Fort or if its not too much a nice flat walk if you park at Man Friday you can walk along side the water as far as Summercove. About a 30 min return at a strolling pace. Its called the Scilly walk.

If you make the journey to west cork (Clonakilty/Rosscarbery area), all of the following are within 10 minutes drive of each other.

Start with a drive to Galley head

Then the ruined church in castlefreke

Longstrand just off castlefreke is a good place to go when there is a storm

Finish with a coffee/tea/hot chocolate in Hayes Pub Glandore.
