Hi everyone, I would appreciate any suggestions you might have for a short break (prob 3 nights) in France / Spain / Portugal, near enough to a cheap airport that we wouldnt need car rental to get there, nice city, good food, not bothered about nightlife, coastal / seaside desirable but not essential, hoping to travel in May, I usually reseach my own hols but there are so many little airports I'd never have time to look into them all. once I have a destination I can think about accommodation.

Fly to Lisbon. from there, travel by train to Cascais (just beyond Estoril) on the coast. It's about 30 minutes by train from Lisbon. The train service is very good. Cascais itself is lovely. There is so much to do - you can easily travel into Lisbon itself, or Sintra is another gorgeous place easily accessible by train. In May, it should be lovely.

I was there about 2 years ago in March, and it was sunny, t-shirt weather. The beaches were lovely, little beachside bars which did lovely fresh fish.

I want to go again myself! When I went there, I stayed in Lisbon, but the next time I go I'm definitely going to stay in Cascais!

Sintra is amazing and easy and cheap to get to. Been there twice this year.
