I had planned to use 100mm kingpsan tp10 between roof rafters and then use 37.5mm TW56 insulated board underneath to give a uvalue of 0.20 w/mk2.
The TP10 is fairly expensive, so might have to looking into putting a fiberglass alternative. Can anyone suggest anything that would give a decent enough u-value, but not as expensive

    Two thoughts:

    1. TP10 needs to be fitted well, and tightly - no point in big gaps. If you seal edges with sealant/tape it's much better.
    2. Fibreglass will 'pack down' over the life of the building, and so diminish in effectiveness.............and, there is a theory that, as loose-fill, that it's effective u-value, due to air movement within, at low temps, is low.

Me, for roof's, I'd go for rigid insulation (of whatever type), well fitted, every time. You only get 1 chance to insulate properly, so do it now. Buyer's Remorse is a terrible thing.......

I agree with your sentiments. At the moment im thinking i'll fit the TP10 just into the bedrooms and leave office, bathroom and hall with out it.
What kind of sealant/tape would you recommend for it?

Tbh, I wouldn't leave them out - esp not a bathroom. As for myself, having worked from home in an upstairs office in a dormer, I wouldn't leave it out there, either.

Which leaves the hall. No point in having one big cold space in your house - all your heat will migrate towards it.........

For sealant, I'd use a non-setting polyurethane or similar, and for tape, well any of the proprietary ones on the market: Airstop, Ciga, Intello,...I'm sure there's others, someone else might chime in on that......

I presume you're putting airtightness membrane under the rafters, before putting on the TW56 board ?
